Little Girl Balerina practiced hard for her dance show. 

She was going to win! She just knew it. Mama came in, 

smiling, nicely. "You practice hard. If you just do it a 

little more, I know you'll win!" 

But Little Girl Balerina did not listen to Mama. She was 

going to win anyway. Little Girl Balerina was a little 

selfish, and never wanted to listen to those nasty 

comments that bullies said about her! Like, "hey, 

dance-dance girl! You don't dance well!" 

But Little Girl Balerina did dance well, because she 

practiced. But she didn't listen to Mama's NICE 

comments, either. 

The next day, Little Girl Balerina went to school. She 

went to acompany her friend, Little Girl Gym. "Hi, Little 

Girl Gym!" Little Girl Balerina said. "Hi. I am sorry I 

have to say this, but you are... selfish sometimes, and 

I want

to hang out with Little Girl Swim." Little Girl 

Gym said. "What?" thought Little Girl Balerina. 

How could Little Girl Gym do this?

That day, Little Girl Balerina practiced for her 

dance show, but crying. "What's the matter?" 

Mama said. Of course, Little Girl Ballerina did 

not answer. "Sweetie, darling, I really want you 

to answer me. Sometimes you are-"

"I don't want to hear it again!" Little Girl 

Balerina fianlly said. 

Mama felt scared. "I will go to my room, Little 

Girl Balerina." Mama said.

"And oh," started Mama, "I actually think you 

should practice more, and be less selfish."

A few hours later, Mama found Little Girl 

Balerina crying.

"What's wrong?" Mama asked. "Today, Little Girl 

Gym let 

me down, and I feel like I am selfish, and 

don't dance well." Little Girl Balerina said. 

"Well, everyone is selfish at a time."

"Even you?" inturupted Little Girl Balerina. 

"Yes. Even me," Mama explained. 

Mama gave Little Girl Balerina a giant hug, and 

said to her that losing a friend could 

sometimes get better. She could make up, or 

something.

"I know if I practice hard, I could win the 

dance compitition." said Little Girl Balerina.

A few hours later, Little Girl Balerina came 

back with a trophy that said, "1st place," and 

Little Girl Gym with her that said, "you are my 

best, and only friend."
