The cheerful sun lived very high in the sky. He smiled every morning and sent warm rays to the Earth.

One day, he looked down and saw many houses, parks and many, many kindergartens in different countries! The sun knew that all the children in the world needed his light to play and for the flowers to grow. The sun sent a special ray, warm and golden, as a first sign of friendship!

The sun, joyfully casting its golden rays everywhere, suddenly paused. In the corner of a small park, it saw the flowers, which should have been colorful, drooping and their leaves covered in dust.

"What's going on there?" the sun asked itself.

When it zoomed in, it was astonished by what it saw! Papers, empty boxes, and even old plastic bottles were scattered on the ground, blown by the wind. This trash was preventing the flowers from embracing the soil, blocking the light from the tiny blossoms sprouting from the fresh grass. Moreover, the swings in the park looked very lonely; the children hadn't come to play because of the mess.

"My rays are very hot, but I can't clean up this trash," the sun thought. "I need the help of my little friends to keep the world clean and save the flowers!"

The sun called out to the trees: "Hey trees, would you please pick up some trash with your branches?"

No matter how far the trees stretched their branches, they couldn't reach the trash.

The sun then asked the birds: "Beautiful birds, would you please pick up some trash?"

The birds tried to pick up the trash with their beaks, but it wouldn't fit in their beaks.

While the sun waited helplessly, he saw a girl coming from the end of the street.

The sun smiled at the little girl. The park was spotlessly clean, the flowers were back to life. Just when she thought everything was perfect, the sun noticed something.

There was a huge trash can at the park entrance, but it didn't clearly label it. Sometimes the children got confused about which trash went where. The sun thought: “The park is clean, but everyone needs to learn how to keep it.” The little girl immediately came up with an idea. “Let’s introduce the trash cans!” she said. Soon, the children who came to the park gathered around the little girl. Smiling, she explained: “Look, the blue box is for paper. The yellow box is for plastics. The green box is for glass.”The children took turns trying. One threw the paper into the correct box, another the plastic bottle. With each correct throw, the sun sent out a brighter light. The birds flapped their wings with joy.

He told the little girls that recycling wasn't just about cleaning. “A piece of paper can become a notebook again; a bottle can become a new toy,” he said. This way, trees aren't cut down, energy isn't wasted, and the Earth stays happy.

The sunlight shone brightly and he smiled, because the children now knew how important it was to protect the Earth through recycling.

While the sun was shining even brighter with happiness, the little girl came up with a brilliant idea.  She and her friends went to the recycling center and told the manager there that they wanted to see what was made from the collected recycling materials.  They toured the recycling factory with the manager as their tour guide. The children were so excited by what they saw that the manager said, "I can provide you with products made from recyclable materials collected in your park's recycling bins, so you can use them however you like."  The children were very happy about it.

They began to watch with fascination all the things being recycled at the factory. They thought about how photocopy paper was used every day at their school and bought a few packs.

They also brought large boxes to make toys for the schoolyard.

Seeing how excited the children were, the principal gave them a bunch of plastic bottles to plant flowers in. The children thanked him and promised to send him photos of what they would create.

Çocuklar plastik şişeleri kucaklayıp bahçeye koştular; etiketlerini çıkarıp yıkadılar ve hayal güçlerini kullanarak onları saksılara, kuş yemliklerine dönüştürmeyi planladılar. Ertesi gün öğretmenleriyle birlikte kurdukları küçük atölyede şişeleri kestiler, boyadılar, gülen yüzler eklediler ve içlerine toprak doldurup çiçek tohumları ektiler. “Bunlar bizim çiçeklerimiz!” diyerek büyük bir sevinç yaşadılar.

Büyük kutulardan tüneller ve oyuncaklar yapan çocuklar, oyun oynarken geri dönüşümün değerini fark etti. Okul bahçesi kısa sürede bir geri dönüşüm parkına dönüştü. Haftanın sonunda çalışmalarını fotoğraflarla müdüre gönderdiler ve bu çaba tüm okula ilham oldu. O günden sonra herkes bir şeyi atmadan önce “Bunu başka neye dönüştürebiliriz?” diye sormaya başladı.

The following day, the children gathered once more. With curious eyes and busy hands, they began to share new ideas: some wanted to turn cardboard boxes into castles, others imagined colorful kites soaring above the playground. Teachers encouraged them to experiment, reminding them that every small creation carried the power to change the world. They learned to care for the seedlings they had planted, watering them gently and watching the first green shoots appear. Friends from other classes came to see the “recycling park,” and soon everyone joined in—painting, building, and inventing together.

The school became a place where creativity and sustainability walked hand in hand. Each child discovered that their imagination could transform ordinary objects into treasures, and that caring for nature was also caring for themselves.

The children, excitedly returning to school, were eager to start their projects. Plastic bottles, seedlings, gardening supplies – everything was ready. Joyfully, the children planted the seedlings in the plastic bottles, sang songs, and enjoyed connecting with nature. As the sun's rays illuminated and warmed the children and plants, they knew very well that every living thing in the universe spoke the same language and shared a perfect bond.
