Okçu, Niğde ilinin Bor ilçesine bağlı bir köydür. Okçu Köyü; Niğde il merkezine 20 km, Bor ilçe merkezine 5 km uzaklıktadır. Köy, 1512 yılından beri aynı adı taşımaktadır. Köyde bulunan Okçu Dağı da adını bu köyden almıştır. Efsaneye konu olan dağın bir tepesi, insan yüzü siluetine benzediği için hakkında bu efsane anlatılmaktadır.

Okçu is a village in the Bor district of Niğde Province. Okçu Village is located 20 km from the city center of Niğde and 5 km from the district center of Bor. The village has carried the same name since 1512. Okçu Mountain, located in the area, also takes its name from the village. One peak of the mountain resembles a human face silhouette, and for this reason, the legend about it is told.

Long ago, a Bey lived in this region. This bey was very wealthy; the entire city belonged to him. 

Eskiden bu yörede bir bey yaşarmış. Bu bey çok zenginmiş tüm şehir onunmuş. 

He also had a daughter of extraordinary beauty. He protected and sheltered her from everyone, because he believed she was worthy only of beys and princes.

Bu beyin bir de güzeller güzeli kızı varmış. Onu herkesten saklar ve sakınırmış. Çünkü o beylere ve şehzadelere layıkmış. 

After a while, the bey’s daughter, who loved wandering through the mountains and fields around the city, heard the sound of a shepherd’s flute.

Bir süre sonra şehrin dağlarında kırlarında gezinmeyi seven bey kızı burada kaval sesleri duymuş. 

The one playing the flute was a handsome shepherd. The girl fell in love with him.

Kavalı çalan yakışıklı bir çobanmış. Kız ona âşık olmuş. 

They began to meet often. The young lovers wanted to get married.

Onunla sık sık buluşmaya başlamışlar. Birbirlerini seven gençler evlenmek istemiş. 

But when the girl’s father learned of this, he flew into a rage.

Ama kızın babası bu durum karşısında deliye dönmüş.

He got very angry,he told his daugter in a firm manner that she must not see that shepherd.

Çok sinirlenmiş. Kızına, kesin bir dille, kızın çobanla görüşmesini yasaklamış.
