Dear Diary, My name is Emily Lockwood. I have been wondering why my last name is Lockwood since I was 5 in 1994. Why would my last name be Lockwood if my mom Kila and my dad Frankโs last name is Smith? This has been a wonder in my brain for 7 years! Are they keeping something from me, am I even their child, what if I was adopted. That makes sense, does it? The more I think about it, the more the ideas pop into my mind. I donโt look like them, mom has light, curly hair, and dad has brown hair and freckles across his nose. My hair is dark and straight, and my eyes are a whole other story, they are a dark blue-ish amber. Maybe I was wrong about them having green eyes, I thought. It's not like I
talking all happy about the things they hate like, Mom (hates cooking) joined a cooking club and Dad (hates reading) joined a book club. And they are opposite Dad (loves cooking) and Mom (loves reading) so, it makes no sense! (END OF CHAPTER 1)
The next morning was my birthday and it was the weirdest birthday ever. My parents, I mean, the Smiths, they woke me up with breakfast in bed but they werenโt smiling in their normal way. It was a nervous kind of smile. Like a cat who ate the canary but isn't sure if the canaryโs mom is watching. They had pancakes and eggs and my favorite bacon all cooked up nicely. But I just poked at it with my fork. I was feeling so nervous and hungry at the same time. My dad, Frank, cleared his throat and was like, "Happy birthday, Emmy. โHe never calls me that anymore, not since I was a little kid. That made me know for sure something was different. โThanks,โ I said, trying to be brave. I ate a little bite of
was an L in fancy writing inside of a heart but it wasnโt an L it was some type of symbol. Mom said, โWe need you to read the rest of this book, before you ask us all the questions that come to your mind. I skimmed through all the pictures, it was filled with my life and my mom and dad. I felt mixed emotions 10% scared and 90% excited, the mysteries of my life werenโt mysteries anymore. The truth was out. I hugged my book tightly and said to myself, โthis was the best birthday everโ. Or so I thought. (END OF CHAPTER 2)
The air got all thick, when I said the name โFrankieโ. Mom dropped the book and it hit the floor with a loud slam, I went to pick it up and then mom said, โwhere did you hear that name!โ โI-I got it from the book, The Unlockingsโ. Mom dropped to the floor feeling mixed emotions. โYou werenโt supposed to read that, not yet!โ mom said. โBut you gave me the key, you told me to read the book before asking questionsโ I stated, my dad grabbed me and threw me onto the floor and then pushed me into the basement and I fell on the ground with a loud crack. I had cut my head, the blood dripping down my face fell onto the cake. It was like the vampire story my friend Vanessa had told me it was called โBlood
