Billy was a 3th grader at Blue Creek Elementary School in Wisconsin. He enjoyed learning and spending time at school with his friends but most of all he enjoyed playing video games.
Everyday after school Billy rushed home as fast as he could. He threw his backpack down, grabbed a snack and ran to his computer to hop on fortnite. As he logged on the real world seemed to fade away. The game took Billy into a whole new world with bright colors, thrilling challenges and players from all over.
One day at recess Billy was playing soccer with his friends. Bryan which is Billy's worst enemy was unfortunately on the same team as him. Bryan said "Billy why are you so bad at soccer, you are the reason our team is losing." This really bothered Billy for the rest of the day which made him even more excited to get home to play video games.

As soon as the bus stopped at Billy's house he darted as fast as he could inside. He didnt even stop for a snack this time. Billy logged in and started to play. The more and more he played the more he got frustrated. He kept getting eliminated over and over and over. Nothing was going his way. "This is the worst day of my entire life." said Billy.
The third time Billy got eliminated, it pushed him over the edge. He felt furious and embarrassed, he just couldn't take it anymore. He sent a chat to the other player that had eliminated him. "Why do you have to keep eliminating me, you are so horrible at this game. You need to stop playing if you are going to make me lose." typed Billy.

Soon after Billy sent that message the other user stopped playing. Billy went along and kept playing. After three more rounds, Billy came to a realization.
What he had just done to the other kid on Fortnite was the same thing Bryan had done to him earlier that day at recess.
Billy was so disappointed in himself for the rest of the night and days to follow. He was so ashamed he didn't even want to get on his computer. Then he finally knew what he could do to fix it. He logged straight onto the game and found the other user. He apologized and said, "I am so sorry for the way I treated you, I took out my frustration on you." The other player said it was okay and it happens a lot.
From that day forward Billy understood the importance of staying kind to everyone whether in person or online. He went to school and shared his experience with his friends.
Even Bryan realized he shouldn't take out his anger on others. That small 3rd grade class at Blue Creek changed the world by a tiny little act of forgiveness, self reflection and empathy.
