MathMindful:Exploring Patterns in Numbers and Emotions (mıxed school teams activity)
Welcome to the Data Detectives!
In this exciting international task, students from Türkiye, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Poland, Finland, Greece, Italy, and Spain worked together as Data Detectives to investigate the “Math Stress Monster.”
First, we introduced ourselves and shared our feelings about math. Then, we carefully examined real survey results from our friends in different schools. We looked for patterns, highest percentages, and surprising results. Using digital tools like Canva and Google Sheets, we turned the numbers into colorful pie charts and bar graphs.

Our goals:
To understand when and why most of us feel stressed about math.
To develop data literacy skills.
To foster teamwork and international collaboration.
To transform math anxiety into math awareness.
By analyzing the data and sharing our findings on the twinspace platform, we took the first step toward catching the Math Stress Monster together!

OVERVIEW
This international survey explores how students emotionally and physically respond to mathematics, what triggers stress, and what helps them relax.

34.3% of students feel confident and calm.
20.2% experience increased heart rate.
18.2% report physical stress symptoms.
15.2% feel anxious or uneasy.
12.1% experience mental strain.
Insight:While one-third feel comfortable, the majority show physical or emotional signs of math anxiety.
Key Finding:
Time pressure and public performance are the strongest stress factors.
Level 1 (Low) → 13 students
Level 2 → 25 students
Level 3 → 25 students
Level 4 → 20 students
Level 5 (High) → 16 students
Interpretation:
Most students fall within moderate anxiety levels (2–3), but a significant group experiences high anxiety.
More Time
Listening to Music,Quiet / Calm Environment,Moderately Helpful
Breathing Exercises,Watching Animations,Change of Teacher
Conclusion:
Reducing time pressure and creating calm environments significantly lowers anxiety.
Türkiye → 41.3%,Czech Republic →24%,Finland→22.7%
Serbia → 9.3%,Poland→5%,Spain→2%Ireland → 2.7%,Greece→ 4.6%
This reflects a diverse European student perspective.
We are The Zen Architects, and we successfully completed our mission to help our friends relax during math lessons.First, we introduced ourselves by writing our name and country. Our page turned into a beautiful international community, showing that calm breathing connects us all. Then, we designed our own Geometric Breathing techniques.
We explored two shapes:
Square Breathing – 4 equal sides
Inhale → Hold → Exhale → Hold
Triangle Breathing – 3 calm stepsInhale → Hold → Exhale
We carefully researched how these breathing methods work and discovered that shapes can guide slow, controlled breathing.
Next, we completed the challenge.
We:
Drew breathing shapes on paper
Designed digital breathing visuals on Canva
Added arrows and counting numbers
Explained how each side represents one breathing step
Each design was unique and creative. Some of us preferred the balanced rhythm of the square. Others felt more relaxed with the simple flow of the triangle.
Finally, we discussed which shape felt the most calming.
We learned that relaxation is personal — and everyone can choose the shape that helps them feel safe and focused.
Through this activity, we proved that math and mindfulness can work together.Sometimes, the best way to solve a math problem… is to take a slow breath first.
OUR SHAPES

These images act like peaceful guides that show us how to calm down using square shapes. These visuals are not just drawings; they are like quiet companions, guiding us step by step toward calmness — glowing softly like blue lights that help us find peace within.Through this activity, we proved that math and mindfulness can work together.
Sometimes, the best way to solve a math problem… is to take a slow breath first.
We are the AI Visionaries, and our mission was bold: to transform Math Stress into Beautiful Art.
At the beginning, we asked ourselves a powerful question:
What if numbers were not scary… but magical?
Using AI tools, we imagined a peaceful forest made entirely of glowing numbers and soft blue light. In our artwork, tall trees rise from streams of mathematical symbols. Floating digits sparkle like stars between the branches. A calm blue mist surrounds everything, creating a safe and dreamy atmosphere.
This was not just an image — it was a transformation.
The cold feeling of stress turned into warm, glowing light.
Numbers stopped being symbols of pressure and became elements of wonder.
Through this project, we discovered that mathematics can be more than formulas and tests. It can be color, imagination, emotion, and art.
As AI Visionaries, we learned that when technology meets creativity, even math can bloom into a peaceful forest.
And that is our magic.

OUR IMAGES
We are Team 4, the Math Ambassadors, and we proudly share the story of our project. We worked together with excitement, kindness, and creativity. Every activity we completed was done with joy because we truly wanted to help other students feel stronger and calmer in math lessons.
Our mission was to create a “Survival Guide” for our fr,ends who feel nervous before or during a test. We brainstormed ideas, shared our own experiences, and chose the best tips that really work. We loved discussing simple but powerful strategies like drinking water, taking deep breaths, counting to ten, thinking positively, and believing in ourselves.
While preparing our guide, we felt like real helpers. We imagined students reading our tips, smiling, and feeling more confident. That made us even more motivated! We didn’t just complete a task — we created something meaningful.
Our goal is clear:
To turn math fear into math confidence.
To remind every student that they are capable.
To show that staying calm is possible with small, simple actions.
As Math Ambassadors, we are proud to use our voices to support others. Because when we help each other, we all succeed together.
