Once upon a time, in a distant kingdom, there was a good and calm king, who, however, had a big flaw. The king could not understand how others felt. For example, when he saw his son crying because he broke his wooden horse, he did not understand why he was crying since he had so many toys.

Or he could not understand why his eldest daughter felt disgusted every time she saw broccoli on her plate, since broccoli was nutritious and good for her.

Of course, this caused him problems in carrying out his duties as a king, because how could he help his citizens  and be fair if he could not understand them?

Indeed, the king, although initially hesitant, tried the wheel. First, he tried it on his son, whom he saw sitting by the window holding a torn drawing.

 The wheel showed him that his son was sad, so the king asked him why he was upset. His son explained that he was sad because his drawing got torn, as he had spent a lot of time choosing the colors and wanted to give it to him to show how much he loves him.

Then he used it on one of his citizens  and his neighbor who was very grumpy. The neighbor complained about everything, about the apples that fell in his yard, the little ditch that ran through his field, because the neighbor's donkey brayed all day. The king considered him strange and grumpy but before speaking, he looked at the wheel which showed him that he was simply sad. 

Then he asked him why he was sad and he explained how much he missed his children, who had gone far away.

The king suggested that he come and take care of the palace garden together with the gardener, so that he would have company and not feel lonely. 

Thus, the king began to understand others, how they feel, and to put himself in their place. From then on, everyone in the kingdom said how great and just a king he was!
