One day, four children from Italy and Greece were playing an online game together. Antonis from Kifissia, Maria from Rethymno, Emma from Modena and Paolo from Vado Ligure. They were excited. Even though they were in different cities and countries, they felt as if they were sitting in the same room.
Let’s pass the level together! said Antonis.
Teamwork! shouted Paolo.

Suddenly, their screens began to glow. The game stopped. On their screens, a small little creature appeared. It looked like a tiny glowing ball, with big blue eyes and rosy cheeks. It had small little arms and tiny feet. In the center of its body there was a shield with a small lock.

“Hello!” it said in a calm voice.“I am Safenet, the Guardian of Digital Safety.”

IC 1 Modena - Italy

Oh!
Don’t worry about me! I’m here to help you! I’m here to play with you a new game!
A game? Which game?

A new game to be come real DIGITAL KINDNESS AMBASSADORS !
It’s a geme to help you to understand if you all are using the internet responsibly!
That’s interesting! How can we play?

You will have to pass some challenge! You have to pass some questions correctly! Do you see the field with the lock here, on my body? I will show you if you are playing correctly!

Great! I’m ready to start playing!

Me too!

Are you ready for your first challenge?

6th Primary School of Rethymno
The next challenge is very important. Sometimes, online, people tease others or share fake news. This can hurt feelings and cause problems. You need to show me how you would handle this.”
Emma
— “Look! I just read a message that says Nick did something really bad. But I know it’s not true…”
Antonis thinks aloud:
— “If we share it, we’ll be teasing him, and he could get really upset. But if we ignore it, maybe others will believe it…”
Maria adds:
— “We can do something good. We can talk to Nick and support him instead of spreading the lie.”

Paolo begins to reflect on another very painful topic that involved his cousin Lidia.
- "Guys, we have to be very careful when we chat with someone online, because often the identity they present is not real."
The other children think, and their memory leads them to some Italian and Greek newspaper articles about unpleasant incidents involving young people who agreed to meet people pretending to be their age, but were actually ill-intentioned adults.
Maria - "We must remember to never give out our personal information."
Antonis - "Not even our home address.
Emma - "And nothing about our afternoon routines or commitments."
Paolo - "Yes, my cousin hadn't respected these rules and got very scared. Luckily, my mother was nearby and intervened.
Safenet smiles,
and its
shield lights up again.
