Once upon a time, on full moon nights, my great-grandfather used to gather the children around a small bonfire. Its flame was so weak that you could barely see people’s shadows, and in that mystery moment he began to tell his stories.

His favorite folktale was “the black land ghost”,he said that, in times of war, a terrifying ghost appeared. It was a man riding a horse, accompanied by a black dog. Both had eyes that shot fire, and their look made even the bravest tremble.

My great-grandfather said that when his parents saw the rider, it was wearing chains that sounded like thunder. 

He insisted that this man was no ordinary man, but the devil himself, who was searching for lost souls to capture them.
