This is where Amelia's story starts.

Somewhere deep in a forest, the daughter of the King takes her newborn and tries to find a better life.

The princess and her daughter live in a small shack on a farm until Amelia, the daughter, is 8. They farm for a nice family who keeps their royal secret.

One day, the princess gets sick, and the farmers cannot afford to take her to the doctor, so she passes away. 

After the princess passed away, Amelia had to go to a boarding school. There she would learn and stay under the care of the teachers. 

Amelia did well in school; she really loved to write

because she had a very wild imagination. With a pencil and notebook, Amelia created great imaginary stories and even learned to draw the characters in her books with her art teacher.

She would create lots of different stories about her life in school and her old life on the farm. When she was bored she would also write imaginary stories about her future. Without knowing that she had inherited the princess title, she was wondering what she should be!

Amelia loved pets, so maybe she could be a veterinarian. She loved the farm, so maybe she should be a farmer. All the choices like astronauts, scientists, doctors, and artists overwhelmed her, so she wrote and drew out stories about what they would look like.

As she grew up, she befriended the other students who stayed at school year-round.

They would spend the summers perfecting their chess skills and the courtyard had hammocks that they would sit in all day long.

They talked about their families and what they wanted to be. Amelia wasn’t really sure what her answers were though. Her mom didn’t like to talk about their family, and she felt a little empty 

without it.

The summer after she graduated, she tutored children in math and sold some of her art for money too, not knowing what to do next.
