WHAT IS A FAIRY TALE?
A fairy tale is a type of short narrative, often originating from oral folklore, that features magical elements, fantastic creatures (like fairies, giants, or witches), and enchanted objects. Typically, these stories feature a clear struggle between good and evil, a moral lesson, and a "happily ever after" ending, often set in a distant, fantastical past.
CHARACTERISTICS OF FAIRY TALES
Magical Elements: Transformations, spells, and talking animals are common.
Well-known Examples: Classic tales include Cinderella, Snow White, Hansel and Gretel, and Jack and the Beanstalk.
Characters: Common roles include royalty (princes/princesses), wicked stepmothers, brave underdogs, and mythical beings.
Structure: They often begin with phrases like "once upon a time" and focus on overcoming obstacles.
Origins: While rooted in oral traditions, they were popularized by collectors like the Brothers Grimm and writers like Charles Perrault.

Once upon a time, there was a boy so tiny that he could fit in the palm of his parents' hands. That’s why everyone called him Garbancito (Little Chickpea). Even though he was small, he had a lot of personality and loved to sing his song:
"Pachín, pachín, pachín! Be careful what you do! Pachín, pachín, pachín! Don't step on Garbancito!"
But he wasn’t alone! He had a whole team of tiny relatives:
One day, Garbancito went to the fields with his father. To travel in style, he sat inside the horse's ear and guided him to the cabbage patch.
While his dad was working, Garbancito jumped down to stretch his legs. He was playing and jumping around when—boom!—he accidentally fell inside a giant cabbage and got stuck.
Bad luck struck when a huge bull walking by saw the cabbage moving, thought it looked delicious, and ate it in one bite with Garbancito inside!
When it was time to go home, his father couldn't find him anywhere. He went back home to get help from Lentejita and the cousins.
They all went back to the garden shouting: "Garbancito! Where are you?". They looked everywhere, but there was no sign of him. They were about to give up and go home sad when Arvejita appeared. She had been camouflaged among the green leaves because she was so tiny.
Suddenly, they heard a tiny voice coming from the bull’s stomach:
"I'm here! I'm here! Inside the bull's belly! Get me out!"
Everyone was so happy to find him, but Lentejita asked the big question: "How do we get him out?". Porotín said they couldn't hurt the bull, so they needed a better plan.
They decided to tickle the bull's nose. It worked! The bull let out a massive sneeze, and Garbancito flew out like a rocket, safe and sound.
They were all relieved and gave each other a big hug. As they walked back home to celebrate, the whole family sang together:
"Pachín, pachín, pachín! Be careful what you do! Pachín, pachín, pachín! Don't step on Garbancito!"
