Max wakes up on another day in Mars. It was a 

nice warm day, the sun was shining, and, it 

was his sixteenth birthday, he was excited. 

Max ran downstairs.

He saw his regular old dining room.

“So how did my bday boy sleep?” Max’s mom 

asked him. 

He replied, “ Fine Mom.” 

Then his parents started talking about how 

much they loved him.

Max's mom started talking about how 

much she loved him,when all Max 

wanted to do was just eat.

He exclaimed to his parents, “ I’m gonna go get Zach from 

next door so we can go to school together.” 

Zach was Max's best friend since they were babies. Zach was 

always the naughty one while Max was the good bo

He goes outside and sees the wind slightly breezing, and Zach 

waiting for him. 

"Hey big boy”Zach said.

“ Let’s go.” Max replied

The two boys raced off to his high 

school and Zach parked his 

hoverbike into a parking spot, and 

went to class.  

Their Klingon teacher, Mr.Crath, came in and started class as they usually did.

 “Did you finish your homework?” Max asked.

”Nope I didn't even start.” said Zach.

 Gabe walked up to Max. (Gabe was the usual school bully who gave everybody a hard time), 

“Hey I heard it was your birthday, maybe I could give you a gift.” said Gabe showing his fist to 

Max. BEEP BEEP BEEP, a huge ear piercing sound swallowed the whole room and the whole 

school started shaking.

 “WHAT IS THAT?” Max asked.

 ”I DON’T KNOW!” Zach replied. Mr.Crath started yelling at everyone to evacuate and get 

home. 

They raced outside to get on the motorbike, when from the side Zach felt a 

hot burning pain on his cheek. It was Gabe. He had just punched Zach! 

“What was that for?” Zach yelped.

”I need a ride home,” Gabe said as he ran towards Zach. He was about to 

snatch up his key when Max drop-kicked him in the face . Max helped Zach 

up and they ran to the motorbike and drove home. They couldn't believe 

their eyes as they saw huge craters open and people falling inside.

 Max saw his house but Zach's house had disappeared into a huge crater! As they 

ran toward Max's house, Max’s mom started hugging and kissing him. Max asked, 

“What the heck is happening?”.

 “Mars inner core is failing and the whole planet is collapsing on itself,” said Max's 

mom.

 “ We need to get into the emergency pod in the backyard and get off of this 

planet.” Max, his mom and Zach ran inside.

”What about my parents?” Zach asked. Max’s mom shook her head and explained 

that they were in the house when it was swallowed. Then Max asked about his dad, 

and his mom said that he was in the house trying to save Zach’s parents. Zach and 

Max started crying as they followed Max’s mom.

Max and Zach ,full on crying, now ran into the escape pod. Max’s 

mom started frantically pushing certain buttons on the control 

panel. The screen started flashing these words: NOT ENOUGH 

FUEL, PLEASE TAKE OFF WEIGHT. Max’s mom jumped off and 

sealed the door again. Max started pounding on the windows 

looking at his mom while the pod shot up in the air and Max never 

lost eye contact.
