Elaina is a young princess from the land of Memoria. She is only 13 years old, but the kingdom has presented her with many problems to solve. She uses different strategies for everyone and has strong executive functions.

Today 3 different townspeople need Elaina's help! She plans to help everyone.

Help!

The first person Elaina must help is Mr. Solver. He does not know what tool to use to cut down the tree, and his family needs it to build a fire.

I just don't know what to do. 

Well, let's try trial and error!

What is that?

It is a way of problem-solving. We try a bunch of different methods until we find the right one! Let's try all of the tools you have.

That is exactly what Mr. Solver and Elaina do. They try everything from saws to fairy dust, and finally cut down the tree using a beautiful golden axe. Mr. Solver brings the wood to his family, and their problem is solved!

The next person who needs Elaina's help is Ms. Thinker. She needs help calculating how large a new rug for the living room needs to be to fit. 

I really do not know what to do, I have tried so many times!

It seems like you're experiencing learned helplessness, but that's okay! Lets work with some algorithms to solve your problem.

Together, Ms. Thinker and Elaina use a specific math algorithm to discover how big the area of the rug needs to be!
