A long time ago, in East Java, lived two powerful beasts. Sura, the shark, was the ruler of the sea, and Baya, the crocodile, was the ruler of the river. 

Sura ate fish and Baya ate animals that were drinking by the river, like deer and monkeys. They were both strong, aggressive, and were feared by many animals. 

One day, Sura got bored of eating fish. So, he decided to hunt near the river and caught a small deer. "This is the best food I've ever eaten. I will never eat fish again!" Sura loved the food in Baya's territory so much, he came back the next days.

The crocodile noticed that there were less and less prey in his territory. He observed his territory out of suspicion. "Sura! How dare you hunt in my territory!" Baya was furious when he found Sura hunting his prey. "It's up to me where I want to look for food!" Sura resisted. Angered by each other, Sura and Baya fought. They were as strong as each other, so the fight lasted for days!

Eventually, they both got tired of fighting and decided to agree on one thing. "Sura, let's just limit our hunting area. You hunt in the sea, and I hunt in the river."  Baya said, and Sura left the river to go to the sea. The place was quiet once again. 

There was only one problem. Sura was restless, he missed the deer meat he ate in Baya's territory. The shark couldn't hold it anymore and swam to the river. He was very careful not to get caught.

But again, Baya grew suspicious of the decreasing number of preys in his area and set up a plan to ease his suspicion.
