History - It became a National Park on February 26, 1919 under President Woodrow Wilson, who signed the bill into law.  It is known for its amazing natural beauty.  Prior to becoming a National Park, it was designated a National Monument by President Roosevelt in 1908. 

Visiting - When visiting the Grand Canyon, you can see the Grand Canyon Village, the Hopi House, the Lookout Studio, the Bright Angel Ridge.  It is made from sandstone and mudstone.  It also has sedimentary rock formations as well as areas of igneous rocks.  It took over 6 million years to form.  The Grand Canyon was formed by tectonic plates.

Interesting man-made items are split-twig figurines, animal figures made from willow branches, and ritual hunting charms.   People have discovered 11,000 year old spear points.  They have also found ancient fiber sandals, made from yucca plant fibers.
