There's a lot I wish I could go back and change, including what I wore today and what I ate for breakfast. However, the thing I wish more than anything I could redo and never take for granted is how I spent my free time during quarantine.

I wish I could go back to the very beginning of the separation—the time when toilet paper was out of stock, the water supply was cut off, and canned food was flying off the shelves.

Everyone seemed to believe the world was ending. Adults had lost their spark and were extremely confused and stressed about what the future held, with jobs being lost, especially those who were recently hired.

My mom was included in this and has lost her job due to quarantine. Businesses closing.

To kids, it was different. Confused, yes. But happy. No school, no schedule, no pressure. It felt like a break from the rest of the world.

At the start of quarantine, no one had a clue how long we would last sitting in our rooms, twiddling our thumbs, more importantly, without seeing our friends in real life, which made the whole world (myself included) feel incredibly lonely.

Then, everyone remembered that the newest season of Fortnite had just dropped: Chapter 2, Season 2. A secret-agent season with hidden bases and brand-new named locations like The Agency, The Shark, The Grotto, and The Yacht. The Battle Pass featured characters like Midas and Maya, a skin that had over 9.2 million customizable variations to choose from.

Daily updates gave players new reasons to log in, so no session was the same.

YouTubers like MrFreshAsian were blowing up, making it feel like YouTube was taking a massive leap forward; everyone was tuning in to his streams, watching his gameplays, and hopping on to play just like him.

It brought a whole new spark of excitement into the game. Other creators were exploding, too, like Clix, Bugha, and Lachlan, giving players reason to get better.

For me, I mainly watched x2Twins, particularly Jordan for his Thunder Pumps, which made the game look extremely easy and gave me a reason to grind.

My friends Weston, Niles, Mason, and I all started playing this game every day. It turned into something more than just a game and one of the best ways to stay in touch.

For hours on end, we would sit in our rooms, cracking jokes and talking, forgetting about what was happening in the real world, or any worries outside the Fortnite map, for that matter.

When summer rolled around, instead of going to the beach, everyone was stuck at home. This is when another game started to blow up
