But that morning something was wrong. The house was very quiet, and his mother didn't come to wake him. Noticing this, Leo woke up and went to his mother bedroom. His mother was lying in bed, weak and tired. Seeing Leo's presence, his mother said, "Darling I'm a little sick today. You'il have to fend for yourself today."

Leo started to cry, but some friends appeared at the window: a bird, a bee and a butterfly. They reminded him that he knew exactly what to do, that he had just learned all the skills in kindergarten in the eTwinning project "Small Steps, Big Skills" on how to be independent, and then a big smile appeared on his face and he got down to work....

Leo took a deep breath and got to work: First, he placed his large truck and plush bears from the floor into the toy basket with his own hands. While doing this, he remembered the "tidying up your own things" rule he had learned in kindergarten.

Leo was proud of what he had done. Just then, he noticed his stomach rumbling. He went to the kitchen. As he had learned, he first washed his hands thoroughly with soap. Then he took a banana from the cupboard and put a few slices of bread, which his mother had prepared earlier, on his plate. He filled his glass with water from the small pitcher. He carefully sat down at the table and ate his breakfast.

After breakfast,he cleared the dishes and tidied up the kitchen. He didn't want to deal with these things because his mother was ill. When he looked at the clock, he realized school time was approaching. He quickly went room to get ready.
