Spring comes quietly to the mountains,

Bringing rain and sunny days.

Tiny flowers start to bloom,

And birds fill the air with songs.

The trees wake up from winter,

Covering the hills in green.

Everything feels fresh and new,

Like nature is starting over again.

I love watching spring arrive,

Right here in Southwestern Virginia.

Summer is my favorite time to be outside.

The days are long, warm, and bright.

I can hear crickets in the grass

And see fireflies when the sun goes down.

Creeks are cool on hot afternoons,

And the mountains stretch for miles.

There is always something to explore,

From a backyard trail to a country road.

Summer feels like freedom,

And it never seems long enough.

Fall paints the mountains with color.

Leaves turn red, orange, and yellow,

Making the hills look like a giant picture.

The air becomes cooler,

And leaves crunch beneath my feet.

Pumpkins appear on porches,

And families gather together.

Every year, I wait for the colors to change.

Fall in the mountains is a beautiful sight.

Winter brings cold mornings

And frost that sparkles in the sunlight.

Some years we get snow,

And everything looks bright and clean.

We bundle up in coats and gloves

Before heading outside to play.

Afterward, it feels good to come inside

And warm up after the cold.

Even when the trees are bare,

The mountains still feel like home.

Growing up in Southwestern Virginia

Means watching the seasons change every year.

I've seen flowers bloom in spring,

Played outside all summer,

Walked through colorful leaves in fall,

And watched snow cover the hills in winter.

The mountains, valleys, and winding roads

Have always been part of my life.

They have been there as I learned,

Grew, and made memories.

No matter how much I grow,

Southwestern Virginia will always be home.
