An insulator is a material that blocks electricity from flowing through it. Rubber and plastic are insulators that help protect us from electricity.

The wire has an insulator around it to protect people from getting shocked.
Parallel Circuit
A parallel circuit has different paths that electricity can follow. This allows multiple lights or devices to work at the same time.

My house uses a parallel circuit because if one light goes out, the other lights can still stay on.
