Dryst wants to discover the Gulf coast. He lives in Amarillo, Texas, in the Texas Panhandle. 

The first region he starts from is the high plains of Texas.

In Amarillo, Dryst sees lots of flat, short grass across open lands. Cotton and corn are growing there. The climate is hot, and dry in summer; with cold winters. 

Dryst then heads to the south-east; there he notices the land rolls up more and the land develop into hills

In Abilene, the land has large rolling hills, land that is carved by rivers, and reddish soil. Shrubs and mesquite are grown here. Here summers are hot, and winters become very cold.

Dryst travels further down southeast in Texas. He stops at a state park to admire the scenery and rest. 

Dryst discovers Edwards Plateau, a beautiful landmark. This area has limestone bedrock, and flat mesas. Oak and juniper trees grow throughout, and short grasses fed the cattle. Summers are hot and winters mild to cool. 

Dryst makes his way to Austin, Texas, the sign reads. 

In Austin Texas, the lands change. Rivers form here and rich black soil and clay prairies to the east. The sun is warm, and summers can be long and hot, winters short and mild, with plenty of rain. The Texas state flower, the blue bonnet bloom in the region.
