Long Ago, Texas was not part of the United States. It was part of Mexico and many differetn people lived there.

Some people living in Texas did not agree with the Mexican government because the Mexican government wanted control over Texas.

The Mexican government sent soldiers to Texas! The people of Texas were not happy, and it caused problems.

In the year 1835, a small battle took place at Gonzales Texas.. The people of Texas refused to give up a cannon and this became one of the first battles of the Texas Revolution.

In San Antonio, Texans and Tejanos defended the Alamo! They fought so hard and brave, but the Mexican army won. 

A famous Leader: Sam Houston

he became a leader of the Texas Army, and he was going to prepare his army for a big battle.

On March 2, 1836, leaders met and signed the Texas Declaration of Independence.

The Texas army walked towards the Mexican army in hopes of winning their independence.
