Cleo was a tiny crab who lived beside a bright blue tide pool. She loved her beach. She loved the warm sand, the salty waves, and the little shells that sparkled in the sun.

Every morning, Cleo explored her favorite place.

First, Cleo stretched her little claws. 

She counted her favorite shells.

She waved to the fish. 

She waved to the sea.

What is that?

But one morning, something was different. 

Cleo stopped.

"What is that?" she wondered.

A giant plastic straw was lying across her path.

ARRRGH!

Cleo grabbed the straw with both claws.

She pulled.

And pulled.

And pulled some more.

"ARRRGH!"

The straw did not move.

I may be small, but I can still try!

Cleo took three tiny steps backwards. 

She looked at the straw.

She looked at her little claws. 

"I may be small, but I can still try!" Cleo said.

    Cleo finally crawled around the straw. 

But then she saw something else. 

A plastic bag was tangled near the rocks.

A bottle cap floated in her tide pool.

A piece of string was stuck in the sand.

What can one small crab do?

Cleo tried to move the plastic bag. 

She tried to push the bottle cap.

She tugged at the string.

But everything was too big.

Cleo sat down in the sand.

For the first time, she wondered,

"What can one small crab do?"
