“Welcome to our classroom! Our classroom is a special place where every student is different, and important. We learn, play, communicate and move in different ways, but there is one thing we all have in common everybody belongs!”

“This is Mateo” Mateo uses a communication device to talk with his teachers and friends. Sometimes, he also points to things that he wants or is interested in. Mateo is very smart and loves learning. One of his favorite things to do is draw shapes and numbers. Mateo reminds us that there are different ways to communicate. Your voice can be heard in many different ways.

This is Thania, sometimes Thania uses a wheelchair when getting places because sometimes she has a difficult time to walk. She may have trouble walking up and down stairs and sometimes needs extra support to walk safely. Thania loves attention and enjoys being around her teachers. She loves spinning around with her spinner and having fun with her ball. Thania reminds us that everyone moves in their own way.

This is Amaury, Amaury is nonverbal, he makes sounds and noises. “He can’t eat regular food he eats in a baby bottle.” He communicates in his own special way and lets you know what he wants or needs. Amaury loves attention and sometimes enjoy participating during class activities. He loves to run around with friends. Amaury reminds us that we all eat different and doesn’t make us different than others.
