Once upon a time there lived a family of 7,and they had a 4 roomed house. It was quite crowed but cozy. The oldest child was named Donna who had black curly hair, and very beautiful. There was also John who always wanted to use his fist, and always annoying the girls. Lainey had brown hair and was wild and free. There was a toddler named Henry and a newborn baby named Caroline.

Papa had made the house out of strong wood; mama had made delicious food. Papa always had his spear with him. In the mornings the children had to do chores. John had to do the outside chores. The girls did the inside chores and some of the outside. Like milking the cows and bringing the milk to mama. Lainey's bucket was dripping all over her.

"Lainey you spilt your bucket all over you!" said Mama.''I didn`t" said Donna.'' Good job.'' said Mama. It is not fair thought Lainey. Donna is always better than than me. Now it is time for inside chores. Make the beds and sweep. Lainey and Donna was singing their favorite song. 

They were singing a song they made. It was called John ate a Fiddle and it went like this. John ate a fiddle and he could not have any pumpkin pie because john ate a fiddle. When john heard this he got really mad, and hit the girls. The girls came out crying, and they all got whipped. Now it is supper time and they have salt bread and milk, which Mama made.

The children need to get washed up. "I hate to get washed up'' said Lainey. Mama scolded her. Lainey hates to get scolded. The girls head down to the spring. Lainey thinks the spring is very cold. While their bathing, there is something shining in the water. It is a necklace. Donna says it looks like its worth a lot of money. They get back to their house, and show their mom. She puts it safely in a box. They hop into the bed,and fall asleep. They hear Mama and Papa, talking about visitors coming tomorrow. That means getting dolled up. The next day Lainey wakes up feeling hungry. There is leftover cold cornbread. 

The rest of the family is awake . Mama says the Petersons are coming over. Lainey yells with excitement. Mama tells her to use her inside voice. An hour later they come, Robin comes. Lainey loves playing hide go seek with the Petersons.

Lainey wants to play with the big girls, so she asks if the want to play . They agree, Donna found a good tree to sit on. Lainey wanted to scare the girls , so she yelled boo ,not seeing Mama's china behind them. Lainey yells no but its to late . They knock it over. "I always make trouble" thought Lainey. She decides to run away.

It is hard running away thought. Lainey I want to go home. Meanwhile mama and papa really missed her. Lainey tries to find her little house. She sees a lady and asks plummels live , and she says yes. The lady asks why are you away from your home. I broke one of my moms faverite thing. You should have never ran away from home. says the lady. They are at Laineys house, she sees her family. She runs to them.

Lainey says she is sorry. Donna asks why she ran away ? Lainey says that she always made trouble , and she didn't want to upset mama. ''That may be true, but we love you and always want you around''says mama. That makes Lainey give her family a big hug. Lainey and her family thank the old lady. The lady goes away , the family sing songs around the fire. Tomorow the family goes to visit grumpy old aunt Berta.

Lainey and her family wake up and get in the wagon. They are all in there best clothes. They arrive and aunt Berta or as Lainey says the old sock. Her mom always scolds her for calling her names. Deep down in Mamas heart she doesn't like her that much either. They arrive and the first thing the old sock says is don't touch anything. So they sit on a couch.
