To Mr Talley:
Thank you for always encouraging me to reach my full potential and for every small moment of kindness along the way—the words of comfort, the warm smiles, the waves, and the hallway fist bumps. Thank you so much for everything. This book is for you.

"I always see those big clouds raining, but I've tried for FOREVER and I still can't rain!" Little Cloud said.

"And look at me compared to THEM. You can barely see me up in the corner while they are storming away and creating mud!"
"Look, even while they blow away, it looks cool," Little Cloud said disappointedly.

The sky starts to clear up as the storm clouds roll away.

"At least now that the sky is almost blue again, my friends are coming back!"

"Hey, Little Cloud! That storm was a big one. Have you rained yet to be apart of it?" The big cloud said.

"Not yet, I'm as dry as a desert up here. What about you guys?"
"Yeah, we did! Look over there. We even made a rainbow!!"

"Wow, guys, that's really cool. I'm happy for you," Little Cloud said, a little sad.
Little Cloud's friends rolled away, so now he was all alone in the sky.

"I just don't understand why I can't rain!" Little Cloud cried.
"Maybe if I just try really hard to rain, I will," Little Cloud thought

"AHHHHH, never mind!! That just blew me to the side!"
"I just don't get why I can't rain. I feel like I can't do anything right."

Little Cloud came up with an idea, though.
"Eureka! What if I ask the other clouds how they first created a storm?"

So, Little Cloud did just that.

"Hey, Stormy! So, as you know, I can't rain. But I was wondering if you could tell me your first rain story and how I can do it?"
"Little Cloud," Stormy said, "I was born a storm cloud. When the weather is just right, I just rain. There's nothing to it, kid."

"Oh, yeah. I forgot that's your whole mojo. Thanks anyways, Stormy."
"Whoa. You have really been storming since you did it for the first time today. The sky is a different color over here," Little Cloud said, looking around astonished.

"I KNOW, RIGHT? Isn't it cool?"
"Yeah, it is. I'm so happy for you! Tell me again how it happened, or like, how you did it."

"Oh right, so basically, all I did was think about raining and growing flowers and making dirt, and BOOMSHAKALAKA! There's rain below me!"
"That's really it? That's all you had to do to rain?"
Little Cloud said, upset.

"Just try again, Little Cloud! Think happy thoughts and maybe you will rain!"
"Okay, I guess trying one more time won't hurt."
Little Cloud thought happy thoughts and tried to rain.

"AHH! I just keep blowing to the side when I try to rain!" But, Little Cloud spotted something when he was blown across the sky.
The sky starts to change as Little Cloud drifted farther.
"Hey, what's happening down there? Look," Little Cloud asked.

"I don't know, Little Cloud. Let's look closer."
