This is Elmer, and he loved it when his parents (padres) would tell him stories about his Spanish Culture! 

His parents instilled in him a love for his language and his culture. They taught him to love reading in his primary language, Spanish. 

When Elmer goes to school, however, he struggles to understand the English readings he is given as the words are confusing for him. 

His teacher, Mrs. Johnson, suggested that Elmer should work on his "Accuracy."

Mrs. Johnson says Let's practice building our Cueing system to increase our reading accuracy.

Elmber begins by listening to Mrs. Johnson read a book his parents have read to him at home in English instead of Spanish. 

Mrs. Johnson now wants to work on Elmer's Automaticity and says to him.

"Now, you and I will read your story aloud, and you will read with me; hunt for high-frequency words like the, in, of, with, and it."
