To my students who inspire to be creative every day.

Maya was a little girl who loved everything about art. She loved bright colors, paintbrushes, crayons, and making pictures. Her favorite place in the whole school was the art classroom.

Mrs. Johnson told the class, "Today, I want everyone to create a picture that shows something special to them. You can use any colors and materials you want!"

Maya looked around the classroom. She saw paint, markers, colored paper, and glitter. She wasn't sure what to create, but she knew she wanted to make something beautiful.

Maya picked up her paintbrush and chose her favorite colors. She selected green for the grass, blue for the sky, yellow for the sunshine, and pink for the flowers.

As Maya reached for her green paint, she accidentally spilled a little red paint onto her picture. She looked at it and felt disappointed. Her beautiful painting wasn't going as planned.

Mrs. Johnson noticed Maya looking upset. She walked over and said, "Sometimes mistakes can turn into something wonderful. Art is about being creative and having fun. Don't give up!"

Maya added a tall tree, colorful butterflies, and little birds flying through the sky. She used different shapes and colors to make her garden look magical.

Across the room, Maya noticed her friend Emma having trouble drawing a butterfly. Maya walked over and showed her how to use different shapes to create the wings.
