It was one sunny morning when
Liza, Lazima, Elyna and Dina walked
with their educator Aayu.
Look at our neighbourhood.
They saw houses, shops, a library
and a park.
Aayu said, “All places have a story!”
Oh no!” cried Liza.
Their wonderful community mural had faded!
The flowers were grey, and the family pictures were
difficult to see.
Lazima asked, "What might have happened"?
Aayu said, “Let's make a new mural together”.
“Yes! Let's help! shouted the children.
Aayu asked everyone to tell a family story.
Liza presented a picture of herself with her family.
Lazima shared a picture with their grandparents.
Elyna said they were celebrating a family day, and Dina
said they had a wonderful family memory.
There is a story to every family, Aayu said.
“And all families belong!” Elyna said.

The children wanted people to feel welcome with their mural.
"Hello!" said Lazima.
"Namaste!" said Liza.
Bonjour," Elyna said.
Dina said with a smile, “Welcome, everyone!”
Aayu said, "People speak different languages; each language is valuable.
The children decided to add the words saying hello in their mural.
The children went out to explore.
First, they visited the library.
They then walked by the school.
They then stopped by the park.
Lastly, they went to the local community centre.
Aayu said, "These places connect people.
“Let's sketch our favourite places on the mural,” said Dina.
Aayu introduced the children to a member of the local Aboriginal community.
“Country brings us together, with land, with water, with plants, with animals and with community,” they said. The children listened carefully.
“How are we going to look after Country?” asked Elyna.
Aayu said that they can respect nature, care for plants and protect animals.
The children included native plants within their mural.
What should we put in our mural?” asked Aayu.
Liza said, “Families!”
Lazima said, “Languages!”
Dina said, “Places!”
Elyna said, “Flowers and trees!”
Aayu divided the mural into 4 parts.
Let's count them: one, two, three, four!

The children went back to their table.
There was something wrong, though!
Their sketches had been lost.
"Oh no! Where are our pictures? asked Elyna.
Dina peeked under the table.
Lazima looked through a bookshelf.
Liza went near the window.
“What might have happened?”
The children had to figure out the mystery.

Liza saw a circle that was red.
"Look! A clue!"
Lazima found a blue square.
Elyna found a yellow triangle.
Dina found a green rectangle.
“Let's follow the shapes!”
The children followed the coloured clues.
