One fine morning, Samy entered the preschool holding a small blue suitcase.

The other children wondered.

“What’s in your suitcase, Samy?” they asked.

Samy smiled.

"Inside my suitcase are many treasures. Each one has a unique story to tell."

She slowly unzipped it.

Samy first picked up a family photo.

"These are my family members who love me and care for me."

Samy's friends smiled at her while looking at the photograph.

After that, Samy offered some words that she uses at home.

“Namaste!” she greeted cheerfully.

Her classmates listened and attempted to repeat the word.

Thus, the children realized that people can greet each other using various languages.

Anna, Samy's friend, had a recipe card from his family.

"This food is made by my grandmother for us," he told them.

The children listened intently to Anna's story about the significance of that recipe card in his family.

A different friend, Aisha, shared a song that her family would always sing.

The kids listened intently.

"Each family has its own songs, stories and traditions," explained their educator.

The children put their objects on the table.

There were pictures, recipe cards, sketches, and other little objects.

"Let us count them."

"One, two, three, four, five!"

Samy said, "We can classify our belongings."

The children classified the objects.

One set for pictures, another for photographs and cards.

"Now look! We can classify objects in various ways!"
