When I woke up that morning I had no idea that by the end of the day I
would have experienced life in a new world.
I was doing school trying hard to focus on my work but a pesky fly would
not leave me alone. It finally landed on our bulletin board. I tried to
squish it with my thumb and in doing so I smacked my sister’s smiley face
picture on the wall.
Each time I touched a smiley face trying to squish the fly, I heard an
odd clicking sound. After touching four smiley faces I heard something
moving behind me. I quickly turned around, the bookshelf had slid open. I
had discovered a secret passage.
I cautiously stepped through the opening. To my amazement there was
a golden brick path beneath my feet which lead me to a sign that read...
Chapter 1A Weird Day
Dream LandWhere Dreams Come True

I instantly thought to myself, I must be dreaming, so I pinched myself,
I felt the pain. This was no dream.
I had always dreamed about flying. As soon as the thought entered
my mind I took off flying. It was like gravity didn’t exist. I was gliding
through the air. I could see everything from the tips of the tallest
trees to the golden path winding below. I thought to myself, How do I
land? At that moment I pictured myself landing, and voila I was on the
ground.
I decided it was time to head back home. I quickly ran through the
passage to find out that no one had been looking for me. After looking
at the clock, I discovered that not a second had passed in the real
world. It was like time had frozen while I was in Dream Land.
When I went to my room I wondered if I would be able to enter
Dream Land again. When my mom called me to dinner I ate in silence
as I thought about the new world I had discovered.

The next morning I walked into the schoolroom, and when no one was
looking I typed in the combination. I held my breath, to my amazement the
bookshelf slid open.
As I walked into Dream Land I thought of riding a dragon, at that
moment I saw a dragon in the sky. Then I saw an empty saddle on the
dragon. I thought, is that saddle for me? Only one way to find out.
So I flew up in the sky going slowly so I didn’t startle the dragon. But it
was too late, it was already blasting fire balls at me. I was constantly
dogging the flames.
I finally calmed the dragon and got on the saddle. It was the best thing
ever, it was like a super fast roller coaster! When I decided it was time to
go back, I dropped from the dragon and walked through the passage.
That night I was too excited to sleep, I couldn't believe I had my very
own Dream Land.
The next morning while I was doing school I heard a huge thud coming
from the bookshelf. I thought, what was that?...The Dream Land!
Chapter 2The Dragon Ride

Chapter 3The Darkness
I jumped up and grabbed my survival backpack. I always keep it packed
and ready to go for my next adventure. I typed in the combination to enter
Dream Land. When I got to Dream Land everything was dark. I looked back,
the passage was gone! In a panic, I ran back to where the passage was.
Desperately I felt all around, my heart was racing, hoping to find the
passage way. It was no use. My way home was gone. My heart sank, would
I ever see my family again? Tears began to well up in my eyes. I fell to my
knees and started to cry.
I don’t know how much time passed before eventually I stopped crying. I
walked down the path to find the Dream Land sign was gone and replaced
with a sign that said...
Zodo's Land
I recognized the name and remembered that Zodo was an evil
sorcerer. I had read about him in my comic books. At that moment I
knew it was my quest to save Dream Land.
I could see the tip of Zodo’s castle over the bushy jungle. I set off
to Zodo’s castle and I prayed for a safe journey. As I entered the
jungle a wave of courage swept over me.
After two hours of walking through the jungle I heard rustling of
leaves in front of me. I yelled out, "Who's there?” A man jumped out
of the bushes. I asked, “Who are you?”
"I am Josh." he said.
"Do you want to help me find Zodo?” I asked.
"I guess I could tag along." he said.
"Alright, let's go.”

As Josh and I walked through the jungle we heard footsteps getting
closer and closer. Soon we began to run. Then a soldier jumped out from
behind a tree. He grabbed our arms, we tried to free ourselves but it was
no use. What looked like the leader of the group came into view from
behind soldiers.
"I am Lamarke the king of the Jungle. You will be my prisoners until
Zodo hears about you."
We were being held at a camp somewhere in the jungle. We were
guarded by two guards. They were big burly men with helmets.
Josh and I were tightly chained together around a big tree. We were
whispering a plan. When something caught my eye, a piece of paper fell
from one of the soldiers pockets. I managed to grab it but it was quite
difficult being chained to the tree.
When we had a strategy we called to the men, “Hey, why doesn't your
master kill us? It would definitely please Zodo.”
The guards looked at each other, "Why don’t we? We would probably
become king." They replied.
Chapter 4Captured

"I will take the honor." one of the soldiers said. As he crept towards
us he held his ax high in the air. As he swung his ax down at us we
pulled the chain in opposite directions as the ax came down the chain
broke. Then we ran as fast as we could towards the volcanoes in the
distance.
When we thought we lost them we climbed up in a tree. Then I
remembered I had the paper that dropped from the soldier. I pulled it
out. “What’s that?" Josh asked.
Looking closer I realized what I was holding. "It’s a map!" I replied,
"and we are only 5 miles away from the Volcano Twins!"
When we thought the coast was clear we climbed down the tree and
started walking toward the Volcano Twins. As we were walking we heard
a strange rumbling noise, Josh and I stopped in our tracks. We both
looked up, we saw bright orange liquid using out of the volcanoes!

“Hurry run”! We took off running between the volcanoes. We needed to
get to the other side of the volcanoes to get further away from Lamarke
and closer to Zodo’s castle. As the orange liquid came slowly down the hill
we darted for the opening. I shouted, “Come on Josh we need to get to
the other side.” Tiny specks of lava came flying through the air hitting us
on our shoulders. As the lava drops burned through our shirts it caused
excruciating pain.
We were making our way towards the other side, we were almost there
when Josh tripped and fell between 2 boulders.
"I can’t move my leg, its stuck!" Josh shouted.
I quickly ran to him. I tried to move the bolder but it was too heavy. I
looked around for something useful. In the direction of the jungle I saw a
log buried in the rocks. I sprinted to the log trying not to twist my angle
on the razor sharp edges of the rocks. Luckily I did not trip.
Chapter 5The Eruption

I grabbed the log and ran back to my buddy who was in
unbearable pain. The lava was only 10 feet away! Hastily I put the
log in place and slowly lifted the boulder, the lava was creeping
closer!
“Josh get up, I can’t hold it much longer.”
Josh slowly scooted himself out from under the boulder. I could
feel the heat of the lava getting closer and closer. I dropped the log
and picked up Josh, and ran past the volcanoes.
When we were safe from the lava I set Josh on his back and
looked at his leg wound. After examining Josh's wound I knew we
would have to wait a few days until we could continue our journey to
Zodo’s castle. I went over to a nearby bush and took a large green
leaf and carefully wrapped it around Josh's leg.

After two days Josh's leg was feeling better. “Come on lets go, we need
to get to the Tents of Terror before sunset. I folded up my map and put it
in my backpack. When we were about 3 miles into our trek when we saw a
dragon up above the tree tops. We quickly darted behind a tree hoping
that the dragon had swept over us but instead we felt a huge thud that
made Josh and I practically fall to our knees!
As we got up we slowly turned around to see the dragon using its
powerful razor sharp tail spikes to cut down trees! We assumed he was
looking for us, But we didn't dare move for the fear of him seeing us. I
slowly pulled out a sword out of my backpack. I whispered my plan into
Josh's ear, he nodded slowly and looked frightened. My plan was for Josh
to distract the dragon while I sneak around the back side of the dragon and
stab it in the back hopefully killing it.
As our plan unfolded we soon found out that the dragon had fire breath!
The leafless trees gave us nothing to hide behind so the plan worked
automatically because Josh was seen by the dragon immediately. Luckily, I
was far enough behind the dragon that he could not see me. As Josh was
jumping behind trees to dodge the flames I thought to myself, this is my
moment.
Chapter 6My Moment

I ran towards the dragon, who was towering over us, my heart was
racing! With my sword held high above my head, I plunged the sword
into the dragon’s back. He screeched in pain, closed his eyes and
smashed to the ground. The dragon was dead! I couldn't believe it, I
slayed a dragon!
Due to the dragon’s fall the ground started to rumble and then cracked
open. “Josh run!!!” I screamed. When the ground stopped moving I
peered into the 10 foot wide crack that was 200 feet deep. Josh and I
walked a good distance away from the crack to be safe. Judging by the
map Josh and I were coming up on Zodo’s prison camp called The Tents
of Terror.
The next thing I knew something sharp was poking me in the back. I
heard a voice, “Don’t move. I am Katooa, Zodo’s bravest warrior and
head guard of The Tents of Terror." Before I could say chocolate pudding he
had us marching towards Zodo’s castle.
Chapter 7Dragon Slayer

It was still a full day hike until we reach Zodo’s castle. At
midnight we stopped for a rest. When everyone was asleep Josh and
I tried to sneak away. As Josh and I were tip toeing around the
soldiers Josh accidentally bumped one of them. The soldier opened
his eyes when he saw us escaping he yelled, “The prisoners are
escaping!" We quickly bolted into the thick jungle. As the footsteps
got closer we new we had to do something and fast! So we climbed
up a large tree.
When we were safely high in the tree we saw the men run right
under us. After the footsteps faded we got down. I opened up my
backpack which I managed to grab on our way out of the camp. I
noticed that we were only 5 miles away from our destination.
