This is the story of a car and her ownerand the amazing journey they embark on.
She had a bright coat of inferno orange paint.
Her shine was brighter than the sun. Her name
was LUCILLE

The owner of this beautiful car
was a sweet faced ESL teacher.
She smelled like springtime and
dressed like Snow White. Her
name was Josephine.

Upon receiving the gift of this pleasing to the
eyes driving machine Josephine became JoJo. She
updated her style of clothing becoming very
fashionable in designer jeans and Manolo
Blahniks.
Her new car gave her the confidence to travel this
country to experience sights, sounds and smells
that will enrich the lessons she plans for her
students.

As they traveled across the country JoJo and Lucille experienced an abundance of
hands on experiences in places like Kentucky ,
St. Louis and Utah.

Wearing her orange flowered hat that resembled
a flying saucer( but matched her car), Jojo
headed to the Kentucky Derby. The crisp
fragrance of hay, leather and fresh cut grass was
her first sensory encounter at the Derby. The
sight of the majestic surroundings of Church Hill
Downs filled her with exuberance and
anticipation. By the time the band played My
Old Kentucky Home, to start the race Jojo had
tasted her first sweet refreshing Mint Julep. She
screamed her lungs out watching the most
exciting 2 minutes in sports.

Jojo's journey continued to the State of
Missouri, on the trail of Lewis and Clark. The
St. Louis Arch provided an amazing view of
the Mississippi River. The antiquated elevator
system that transports you to the top of the
Arch made a Racket of Crunch,Crunch,
Clack, Clack, and finally a loud BOOM
before it stops at the top. The only thing
Jojo could say was "Phewee" as she wiped
her brow getting off and stepping onto the
observation deck. Here she had her breath
taken away by the visual image in front of
her. The height of the Arch gives an
incredible perspective of the mighty river.

She traveled through Kansas into Colorado following the river into Utah. She found
stunning rock formations called mesas and buttes.
Spending time in Monument Valley, where she met
Navajo Indians who treated her to a sumptuous
delight called "Frybread". It reminded her of the
fried dough she loves at the Italian Feast of San
Gennaro. Hot sticky and and so tasty it melts in
your mouth.

Jojo and Lucille continued heading west,
planning on stops in Yosemite Park and
Hollywood California. Jojo planned to return
to school with many first hand accounts of
life in the United States, to enhance her
lesson plans and benefit her students.
The gift of the inferno orange Camaro,
lovingly named Lucille giving so much more
than just a ride.
