*Lines of latitude and longitude form and
imaginary grid on Earth's surface.
*Latitude lines
-Latitude is the distance of a location south
or north of the equator.
-Latitude lines run east and west.
*Longitude lines
-Longitude is the distance of a location east
or west of the equator.
-Longitude lines runs south and north.

Economies-
*Traditional Economies
-Fond in rual areas and non developed countries
-custom guide economic decisions
-no technology
-men and women have different rules
-economic activity is based on family needs
-hunting, fishing, gathering
*Market Economies
-resources are owned and controlled by individuals
- Individual freedom/choice is important
-supply and demand
-also called free market or capitalism
*Command Economies
-government makes decisions on how resources will be used and prices of goods
-change happens easily
-little individual freedom/choice
-businesses are not run to make profit
-few choices for consumers
-shortage are common
-government decides where you work
*Mixed Economies
-protects consumers and workers from unfair policies
-government and individuals share the decision making
-government regulates production of the certain goods offered
-individuals own means of production
-most effective economy

*Government is an organization that sets up and
enforces laws
*Why do we need a Government?
-to protect people
-to protect peoples rights
-to resolve conflicts with in the country and other
countries

*What is culture?
-beliefs

-idea, way of doing things

Religion-

-Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, and
Buddhism
*Religion helps people make sense of the world
*Religion also helps people understand the meaning
and purpose of life
*Religions of the world have many common traits
-expectation to treat everyone good and act prperly
-prayers and rituals
-celebrate important holidays, places, and times

Rivers-
*4 major rivers
*Carry's water from the mountain to the sea
*Nile River
*Congo River
*Zambezi River
*Niger River
*majority of cities located on rivers

East Asia Land-forms-
*China which takes up most of east Asia's land is made up
of mainly mountains, highlands, and plateaus
*The other countries of East Asia are mountains too
-but they have only narrow plains along the coast and
rivers
-instead of the wide plains and plateaus of China and
Mongolia
