I am a 9 year old boy named Dre. I don't have a
lot of friends. I grew up without a dad and only
with my mother. I'm not really a wild kid im
actually just very nice.

I'm very antisocial, I don't really want to talk to anyone
that I don't know. My mother tried to teach me to have
friends so that I wouldn't have to be a mothers pet. I
guess I just need to break out my shell.

Truth be told I was always scared of the dark. I
thought there where monsters,because I didn't grow
up with a man in the house. I wasn't taught to be
strong. My mother didn't really know about it she
just figured I would grow into it.

I hoped one day I could play sports with popular
people. I was scared though, i can play good but
just didn't know how to make friends. Ever time I
saw the baseball team I'll turn and walk the other
way.

My other hobby was to ski-lift. I went with my
favorite cousin Alex, he is the only person feel I
could trust and have a good time with. We went
boarding ever other weekend and we lived on the
same block.

I almost remember when I was 2 my dad would hold me
and play with me like a airplane in the air. I figured he'd be
around for the rest of my life, I mean he is my dad right? I
just wished he was here because, I need man on man
advice, my mother can't help with boy needs she's a
woman. Besides I wouldn't have fun with her.

My favorite color is blue. Its my favorite color because,
thats the color shirt my dad had on the last time I seen him.
I guess I'll never see him again, Im going to have to figure
out how to be a man on my own.

Some say they make friends the way they dress. Kids at my
school wear Nikes, Polo, and all that expensive stuff. My
mom doesn't buy all that, she sayes be greatful for what i
do have. I wear Sketchers and Fila clothing and shoes. I
guess thats a reason I'm not noticed.

Kids don't want to hang out with me because, I'm an
outcast. I want to be like them, I mean I don't to be a
follower but it's he cast in my situation. I just want to be
cool, if my dad were here he would buy my everything I
want because, he's also knew what it was like at this age for
a boy to be cool.

I wish I had some realatives to go the
same school with me. I could hang with
them, and they can hang with other
people that he would soon introduce me
to so i would have more friends. Then
it wouldn't be so bad for me to continue
making friends through them I should
look into my cousin switching schools
for me so it can work out.

After school I walked up the street to Alex
house and told him my idea from earlier. He
seemed convinced because he knew my
problems but he was popular. He told me he
would start at my school tomorrow so we can
work something out for me.
