Annual CirculationsSummary: per student
usage of library
materials is remaining
steady with slightly
lower enrollment.

The Big Picture of the Libraries
Tomahawk students continue to read and use
the library facilities!
How?
By continuing to check out materials and use the
digital resources such as the databases and e-
books! Other contributing factors include;
increased selection, classroom support, student
acceptance of digital platforms, and increased
academic rigor of curriculum.

OverDrive e-books were added for
High School October 2013 due to the
ability to off-line read with the
Chromebook. Usage almost doubled
in the second year. (According to ALA
library annual average growth of e-
book usage nationally is just under
10%.
Follett Shelf now offers many
read-to-you and audio book
enabled titles; increasing
usage access ability
considerable for all students.
In addition to expanded
titles with unlimited access.

E-books Grow!
Expanded usage of both e-book platforms district wide was
experienced in the 2014 / 2015 school year due to increased
and directed student contact through classroom collaborative
lessons, training's for students and staff, and digital self-help
support on the library page. Additionally, titles were selected
based on specific curriculum needs directly tied to classroom
standards thus increasing students required exposure and
usage of e-books; ultimately preparing students to college and
career readiness. Finally, the ability to purchase books on-
demand or by requests from students greatly drove the
demand for e-books and "cult following" which is evident today
in the amount of e-books in both platforms checked out over
the summer.

Facilities Use of the Middle and High
School Libraries
This gives an idea of "how the libraries" are being used.
Including the number of students, classes, and meetings
that are using the library and the time of day.
Additionally, High School and Middle School libraries
assist students with Chromebook "loaners" and claim
requests for all work on the devices. We also check out
all Chromebooks to students managing the asset
through Destiny Library Manager.

The High School Library continues to show growth in overall library
facility usage before school for students and during study hall as a quiet
place to work. The majority of the Chromebooks district wide are
manged by the High School as it is the central location for all buildings.

The Middle School Library experienced a growth in the usage of e-
books and change in how the library is used. More groups of students
and individuals were found in the library than whole classes using the
library lab as now Middle School is one-to-one with Chromebooks.
This shift opened up the library to become an extension of many
classrooms.

The Elementary Library operates
with a consistent usage of the facility
by the use of the fixed library
schedule. This fixed schedule does
not allow for groups or individuals to
come to the library to work
independently as the mornings are
filled with scheduled classes. The
part time staffing of the library
opened the afternoons up for groups
and individuals; yet was problematic
in that students many times are not
fully supervised.

Databases and Digital Resources
Over the past three years the Library Media Centers have
provided digital resources that support rigor in the curriculum
and demand critical thinking skills of students while researching
while providing integrated support tools allowing access for all
levels of learners. Usage of the digital resources is up due to
increased access to technology (through one-to-one
Chromebooks), active teacher participation in the selection of
databases, increased library and classroom instructional time
for resources, and teacher assigned usage of resources. Going
forward, a continuation of targeted training for both students
and staff on the digital resources while supporting self-learning
through the library website.

FactCite by Lincoln Library is provided district wide for all
students; usage continues to grow at double digit growth for
the past three years. The database focuses on the needs of
all students K-12 adding usability features and
enhancements yearly.

Issues and Controversies in US
