When a giving father divides his property and
fortune between his two sons, the youngest
decides to move countries and spend all the
money. After a wave of hunger hits his new
homeland, the son comes back to his father,
begging to grant him forgiveness for his actions.
Will the father forgive his wasteful son, or be angry
with his choices? And what will the youngest son's
brother think?
Written by Sarah Palfi

It all began when...

Jesus has already told many people the story of The Lost Son!
And here he is, about to tell us the tale!Shhh, he is starting the story now...

James

David
John

There was once a man called James, who lived in a faraway land on a farm
with his two sons.
The youngest son was called david...
And the oldest named John.

Half for you, DavidHalf for you,
John

One day, David asked hisFather is he could divide
his property between him
and John.
So he did...

Good bye!

A few days later, David gathered all of his possessions
and moved to another country!

Oh no!!

Soon, David had spent all of
the money he had been given
by his father...

I'm hungry!
Shortly after, a wave of hunger hit the
country.
The land became dry and the food stopped
growing, wilting away in the sun's heat.
David began to be in need...

Hmm...
May I please work for you,
sir?

So David went and hired himself
out to a citizen of the country.

I wish I could eat some food!

David was sent to feed the man's pigs, and
surprisingly discovered the farmer's field was
healthy and green, but nothing was growing
there.
He wished someone would give him
something to eat! He would have happily
eaten the food which the pigs were
consuming!

I'll return to father!!

??

David quickly decided to return to his father,
and beg him for forgiveness. He planned to
say, "I am no longer worthy to be called your
son, as I have sinned against heaven."
David hoped his father would
understand, and provide him with food
and love once more. He knew his father
would have plenty to eat, as would his
servants and brother.

Father!?
Is it really you, David?

As David was on his journey home, his father
suddenly stumbled upon him! He gave David a big
hug, as he was thankful for his youngest son being
safe. David's father was glad to have found him!
But David felt ashamed, for he had sinned. He
thought his father wouldn't forgive him, or accept
him back into the family because of his actions.
David wasn't sure whether his father should treat
him as his son anymore.

I can't seeour house!

David's father waited patiently while David
stood, trying to see his house from afar.
They both walked home together, sharing their
news.
David's father was very glad to have David
home finally.

When they arrived back home, David's father
ordered his slave to bring out a robe for David,
and kill the fatted calf so they could have a
feast and celebrate David's return. "This son of
mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost
and has been found," said David's father.

Sir, what is that noise?A party! Your
brother is back!

David's older brother was in the field, and as he
neared the house, he had music and dancing!
So he called one of the slaves and asked what was
going on!
The slave told John that his younger brother
David had come, and his father had killed the
fatted calf because he was back safe and sound!

John became angry when he heard that his father had
organized a celebration because his wasteful,
irresponsible brother had come home.
His father came outside and began to beg John to
come inside.
But John refused, and told his father how for many
years he had been working for him like a slave, always
obeying his commands, yet he had never been given a
goat or anything to celebrate with his friends.
John continued to tell his father about how David had
wasted his property and money, but even so, the
fatted calf was killed for him.

WAIT!
As John stormed away, his father said, "Son, you are
always with me, and all that is mine is yours. But we
had to celebrate, because your brother was lost, and
has been found."
John stopped and realized his father was right. He
turned around and they walked home together.

David decided to stay on a work for his father on the
farm.
John enjoyed having his brother to help him work.
James was glad to have David home, and celebrated
their hard work with a feast, once a year.
They all lived a long, happy life on the farm together!
