Hunter is a five year old boy who has 

Autism. He loves to play especially 

with his toys. Hunter is such a big 

boy, but has one big problem learning 

to go to the potty. He seems to not 

get the concept yet that if he needs to 

go to the bathroom that he needs to do 

it on the toilet. His mommy and 

daddy has been working with him for a 

while now and has been trying to teach 

him that he does not need a diaper 

anymore. 

Hunter's mommy would call for 

Hunter when she thought it was time 

for him to go potty. Hunter would try 

to go and hide and his mommy would 

find him. His mommy says " Hunter, 

come and try to use the potty". Hunter 

says " ok, mommy I will try, but I 

really do not want to". "But why", 

mommy asks. Hunters says "I am 

scared and I do not have to go". "There 

is nothing to be afraid of my son, I 

am here to put you on the potty and I 

will hold your hands every step of the 

way", mommy answers back. Hunter 

then lets his mother put him on the 

potty even though he was still 

scared.

While Hunter was on the potty he did not go 

but as soon as mommy pulled up his diaper and 

pulled up his pants, Hunter went in his Diaper. 

Mommy was a little upset and asked "Why 

didn't you go in the potty when I had you on 

it". Hunter did not answer, but put his head 

down and started crying. Mommy gave him a 

hug and told him "I am not mad at you, just 

upset that you were on the potty and decided 

to go in your diaper instead. I still love you 

still". Hunter turned his frown around and 

started playing with his toys.

Hunter's mommy decided to go talk to 

his daddy to see what he would say 

about his potty training. Daddy came 

up with another idea to get Hunter to 

start potty training. The next morning 

Daddy, took Hunter out to pick out his 

own underwear, thinking this would 

encourage him to want to use the 

bathroom. Hunter seem to not be that 

excited as Daddy thought when picking 

out underwear but Hunter chose the 

batman underwear. Daddy said "Now 

Hunter, you can wear these over your 

Pull Up diapers". 

While Daddy was out shopping with Hunter, 

Mommy decided to make a Potty Chart up for 

Hunter and buy some stickers and rewards for 

Hunter. When Hunter got home from shopping 

with Daddy, Mommy showed Hunter what he 

was able to get when he filled the Potty Chart 

up with stickers. Hunter smiled, but still 

seemed to not really be bothered by it. 

Mommy then ask Hunter "Do you need to go 

to the Potty?" "No", Hunter replies back. 

Mommy then says, I think you should at least 

try". "Ok mommy I will try to go".
