Timmy Erickson woke up one sunny morning to the best day
ever. Today is Timmy’s 6th birthday. “Momma Momma!” he
exclaimed ,”I’m 6!”
“Oh, my little Timmy. You’re growing up so fast! Now run
along and get ready for your party. Grandma and Grandpa will
be here soon.”






Timmy watched from the window as his grandparents pulled
up. He welcomed them with the famous “Timmy hug” and
the three joined Leaf, Maple, and Shawna Erickson at the
dinner table.


After they ate, Timmy anxiously waited as his mother
brought in his cake with 6 glowing candles on top. Timmy
wished for more than anything to have a bike and with a
big breath, he blew out the candles in hope that his wish
would come true.



All of the sudden, Timmy’s grandparents brought in the biggest present Timmy had ever seen. He
tore through the paper to find a shiny new rocket bike. He squealed with delight and
quickly ran it outside to test drive.



“Timmy put on a helmet!” called Grandma.
“I’m a big boy now. I don’t need a helmet,” pouted Timmy
and he pedaled toward the street. “10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 BLAST
OFF!!!”

Timmy!
Timmy pedaled like a rocket into the street. He heard a car horn and looked just in time to see a car
collide with his head. Everything went black.




At the hospital, his family surrounded his bed. “Will he be ok?”
“Timmy had a very hard hit to the head. He is in much pain
so we gave him some medicine so he can sleep until we need
him to wake up. We are not sure how much time he has left.”
Maple fell to the floor and began to cry. Shawna hugged her
mother tightly.
“I love you Mommy,” she whispered.
“It doesn’t matter. I love Timmy more,” her mother
responded.






Timmy stayed sleeping for several more weeks all the while
Shawna kept his room tidy and took out the trash to attract
her parent’s attention. Even Shawna’s friend’s parents helped
by bringing meals every night. Maple stayed with Timmy at all
hours of the day. Leaf tried to talk her into coming home, but
she was determined to help her son get better.
