I want to dedicate this story to all the citizens of this beautiful city
known as the heart of Pakistan, Lahore
and my adorable cousin Amina

I was sitting in the
plane waiting to reach my destination and
finally the plane landed. I trotted out of the
plane and grabbed my suit cases. Many
people in sight were, in the apparent cultural
dress, known as shalwar kameez, at least
that was what my itinerary said. I had taken
a local bus from next to the airport, and as I
glanced out of the window, I saw green and
white flags with a crescent and star, people
obviously had some patriotic blood in their
veins. I got out of the bus, ready to do some
exploring, but stopped, as the bus driver was
saying something to me, in their local
language.
I asked him what he was saying but he obviously
didn’t get my dialect. A lady beside me informed
me that I had some change left with him. I took
my change, in rupees and as I looked back, ‘’My
name is Aiza,’’the lady introduced herself. ‘’Hi! I’m
Christina, and yes, I’m obviously a tourist,” I told
her, all smiles. “Oh and thank you back there!”
“Oh its really no problem,” the lady, Aiza told me
hospitably. We then separated ways and I headed
off towards my hotel, I took out my phone and
checked the direction of the hotel and it was 10
minutes
away from the bus stop. I walked as I saw a
beautiful trailer with truck art of a scenery
painted on it. Some beautiful graffiti was also
painted here and there on the walls, which
introduced me to the rich colours of Pakistan.
The scenery was painted with bright colours
and shades of reds, oranges, blues, hues of
yellows and greens. Some children’s faces
sticking out from the windows were adding to
the natural beauty of the scenery. Before I even
realized I was standing in front of a stupendous
building painted bright yellow and white from
the tip to the top. It had PC (Pearl Continental)
written on it with golden brass. I went inside the
gigantic building and saw the reception in front of
me. I saw the receptionist who had dark brown
hair, eyes and pale skin.
I saw her name tag where Ayesha was written in big
bold letters. ‘’Hello ma’am how may I help you?’’ she
asked ‘’Hello Ayesha remember I talked to you for my
reservation’’ I replied. ‘’Yeah! you’re Christina, am I
right?’’ she said with a bright smile. “ I have booked
room 269 for you Ma’am’’ she added while pressing the
button of the bell beside her. A boy came running who
had really short hair, dark brown skin and black eyes.
‘’Yes ma’am’’ he said to Ayesha. He walked as I
followed him. He was going towards the elevator and
pressed 3.I went inside ‘’So where are you from
ma’am’’ he asked ‘’London’’ I replied. He was looking at
the floor the whole time till the elevator door
opened. This was like the longest period of time I had
spent in the elevator. Usman, walked and led me to my
room.
There was a king sized bed and a T.V. in front
of it. It had a cupboard with a fridge, a locker,
a robe and some extra slippers.I woke up,
yawning, the next day, and got out of my
bed. I suddenly noticed a balcony and went
out there. It had some flower pots potted with
flowers blooming out. I came back inside the
room and called my tour guide ‘’Hello Mr
Adnan I am Christina Smith talking. I wanted
to know about my schedule.’’ I asked. ‘’Oh
Ms. Smith! You should meet me at the
restraunt near your hotel, its called Cosa
Nostra and its 20 minutes away from your
hotel. I will be waiting for you with your
schedule’’ he said. ‘’Ok bye then, I’ll meet you
there’’.I went back to the ground floor and ran
to the reception. ’’Ayesha, where will I find a
taxi?’’ I asked. ’’You can find a taxi from
outside the hotel they pass by the hotel
frequently.” She replied with a smile.
I went outside and before I knew it I was seated in a
taxi. The driver took me to Cosa Nostra as I asked him
to. Striding inside, I saw a man seated at a table,he had
fair skin and dark black hair. He was ordering a drink and
I recognized him from his voice immediately. I walked
over to him ‘’You must be Mr. Adnan’’ I said. ’ Yes and
you’re Ms. Christina? Please, have a seat.” I sat at the
seat parallel to him ‘’So, where am I going first?’’ I
probed ‘’This is your schedule, yes, right here, so, first
we’ll start with Badshahi Mosque…” Yes, by now you
must have realised where I am; right in the heart of
Pakistan, in Punjab, Lahore “And then Wagha Border” ’he
told me. ‘’Okay great’’ I said even though I wasn’t
listening. ‘
‘’But the bad news is that I have an emergency
and I can’t accompany you there, although I
have brought a big bus ticket which will take you
to all these places so no problem. The bus will
be coming at the bus stop nearby in 5 minutes,
you can go enjoy your trip and I will meet you
later.” he informed me ‘’Okay then, I’ll see you
later.’’ As I went towards the bus stop, I saw
many buses there, I handed my ticket to the
right bus keeper and went inside to sit as I see a
shop that says queerly in Roman English, ‘Chai
Ka Dhaba’ I grabbed my phone and searched
its meaning and got to know that it’s a place
where people drink tea and other refreshments
are served.
Finally the bus stopped and I saw a beautiful mosque
made out of red sand-stone. A tourist guide told us
that it was built by Emperor Aurangzeb. The marble
domes cover seven prayer chambers. In the
chambers above the Gate of the mosque, are housed
the remains attributed to the Holy Prophet of Islam
Mohammed, Peace be upon him, His Daughter and
His son-in-law and are said to have been brought to
South Asia by Amir Taimur.
