To Mr. Vandenberg because I wouldn't have wrote this bookunless he told me to.

Dear Diary,
My name is Adele. I am a seven year old
girl, who has been extremely depressed. Today
is my birthday, so my mom bought me this
journal. About a week ago, my friend, Jean,
suddenly became sick with a new disease.
Everyone is so terrified of getting it. It’s so
bad, that no one in our city will go outside to
play anymore. Usually, I would be in school.
This day… It’s a complete different story. For
they shut down all the schools!

Dear Journal,
I’ve been woken up by the sound of my
father’s unusual vomit. He has an insane fever,
and he’s been feeling very weak. I hope he will
get better. Also, I still haven’t heard from my
friend, Jean… I hope she’s okay too. Her
mother came to my house crying earlier, and
no one would explain why. I’m not aloud out of
my house, but I’m going to find a way to
sneak to her house tomorrow.

Dear Journal,
I haven’t gotten a chance to sneak out of my
house yet. A strange doctor was in my house
screaming, and banging things. What’s even
weirder is, he was wearing a scary bird mask,
that made me cry. My father had weird things
underneath his arm the size of apples! My
mother took me into a different room, before I
had a chance to talk to my father. I hope he
will be okay. Anyways, I will for sure find a
way to see my friend, Jean. Tomorrow for
sure.

Dear Journal,
I haven’t seen my father today. My
mother won’t stop crying, and won’t tell me
what’s wrong. I went by Jean’s house today. I
really wish I hadn’t. . . All I could see was her
dead body on her porch. I started crying
immediately. Walking through the streets was
a different story. All I could smell, was death,
and rotten flesh. I miss my dad, and I wish I
could tell him about Jean. If only I knew where
he was….
