It is 1991 in New York City. It was a gloomy day, looking like it's about to
rain. Small rays of light were coming through, but not enough to light up the day
with natural light. A call came in from an old hotel that there was a murder in one of
the rooms. The police force quickly responded, and arrived on the scene within
minutes. They had their guns drawn, prepared in a defensive strategy. Even though
the man had been dead for a few hours, they were cautious.
They had no evidence to support the murderer left the building, and they had to be
sure. They checked every room, every corner and nook, and it was clear that no one
in the building had caused the murder. The murderer must have fled. The detectives
then came.
“Another case brings in more money, right Matt?” Kyle Trump sputtered out
grinning while Matthew Wing had a small smile on his face.
“Sure does. But the poor man who died, they say he was stabbed through the
back, breaking his spinal cord,” Matt explained what had happened.
“It is a horrible way to go. We better get in there and try to find him,” he
sniffled and walked in, Matt trailing behind him.
When they got inside the room, it was more gruesome than what they
expected. Blood painted the walls, and the words ‘I’m Coming For You Next’ were
written on the wall with the man’s blood.

Both of the detectives gagged at the sight of the body. They asked for a
situation report.
“It seems that the murderer took a knife that was about three inches wide and
shoved it through the man’s back as he was walking to his bed. He died quickly, and
the murderer fled. He took the fire escape down, and jumped the last ten feet. We
collected a sample of his blood, but since it is dried and it mixed with the concrete, it
will take about one to two days to get the results,” the chief explained. Kyle nodded
and started helping Matt with the fingerprinting. They found a full hand on the rail to
the fire escape, and sent that in for DNA profiling.
“Kyle, I think I found a trail that we can follow,” Matt called out for him. He
came running and looked at the trail that Matt was pointing at him.
“Good job Matt,” he complimented him and radioed in to the police at the
scene they were going to follow a trail and requested a warrant. They both started
following the trail to what looked like lead to a diner. They started asking the staff,
and the manager gave a description of the man.
“Yes, there was a man yesterday that was bleeding from his knee. We asked if
he needed help, but he declined it and ordered a coffee,” the manager gave his story
and description of the man. “He had blonde hair and blue eyes, and he was about
yay-high,” he motioned to about the height, “and he wore a blue shirt and jeans. He
had black shoes and had a tattoo on his right arm.”

Kyle wrote down the description of the man and asked for details about the
face. The manager gave a rough description of his face.
“Does it look like this?” Kyle showed the manager the rough draft of the man’s
face.
“Yes! Yes!” the manager recognized the face immediately.
“Thank you, sir. Do you know where he went after he left?” he asked.
“Yes, he headed downtown. He said something about an old warehouse,” he
elaborated.
“Thank you, sir. Anything else you think we need to know?” the detective
questioned.
“No, I gave you all I know. If I think of anything else, I will tell you,” he
confirmed.
“Thank you again. Please, send a message as soon as possible,” the detective
gathered his notes and began searching downtown for a warehouse. It took them
four hours to try to find the building they were looking for. It was old, built in the
1880s, made out of bricks. It was large, enough to hold four cars lengthwise, and
had a small back area that was the manager’s office.

They quickly received a search warrant. The detectives entered in slowly
and cautiously, looking around for the killer or other evidence that may lead to the
identification of who killed the man. Kyle went to the manager’s office and began
looking around, and immediately found the weapon. It was indeed a bowie knife,
and at it’s base it was about 3 inches. As he was inspecting the knife, his phone
started buzzing. He quickly picked up.
“Hello?” Kyle asked.
“Hey, it is Joe. The hand print you found, we identified it. It belongs to
Matthew Wing,” Joe told him, and the line was silent. Kyle then spoke.
“Thanks. I’ll be back in the station in a few minutes.” The phone line
clicked and Kyle stood still. He could not believe his partner, the person who he has
worked beside for almost a year, was a murderer. He quickly gained his senses and
walked out. Matt was still looking at the boxes when Kyle came up behind him and
quickly put him in cuffs.
“What are you doing Kyle!” Matt yelled as Kyle started disarming and
stripping Matt down. He gathered all the guns and tasers' and handcuffs that he
had and explained.
“I got a call. The hand, the blood, it was all you. I have to assume you
paid the manager to cover you as well. I still can’t believe it was you though.”
