I come up with a question, then a hypothesis

Yeah, the scientific method

Scientists, they always be guessing

About things in nature

Even if you guess wrong

No one’s gonna hate ya’

Right or wrong, hypotheses are good

But don’t guess blindly

Instead you should

Back it up with an observation

And any other background information

Now it’s time to put it to the test

Do an experiment and don’t forget

To always wear your safety gear

Whenever we go to the lab this year.

Measure mass with a triple beam balance

Never ever use pounds or gallons

Instead use grams for mass

Milliliters for volume, stay on task

Your observation can be quantitative

Or qualitative.

They’re both just a way to describe what you’re 

seeing 

And you best believe that you should

Do more than one trial, you repeat it

When you’re done go back and reflect

On what you observed and what to do next

Crunch those numbers, draw a conclusion
