My name is Deena Aggad and today I will be telling you all about my family! My parents were both born
in Palestine, which is very far away from New Mexico.
Twenty five years ago, they moved to the United States,
first living in Ohio, then Tennessee, and then finally
settling down in New Mexico.

Each family has their own social values. In my family, we value three things. They are
1) Honesty
2) Loyalty
3) Respect
In my family, no one lies to each other. If we lie, then that means that we can't trust each
other, and if we can't trust each other, are we even family?
Loyalty means always being there for each other. Like it was said in Lilo and Stitch,
"Ohana means family, and family means no one gets left behind or forgotten. It is important
that we are there for each other in the easy and tough times. That is what family is all about
Respect goes for everyone. You respect those that are older and younger. No matter who
they are, respect if required.

I have five sisters and no brothers. Two of my sisters are
married. The oldest has a daughter and a son. I am
number four. Number 2 and 3 are twins. My first language
was Arabic. It is spoken our household on a daily basis.
My parents speak to us in Arabic, and sometimes to bother
them, we answer back in English!

Arabic is our main language. I'm gladthat it was my first language because
I am now bilingual(speak two languages)
and I believe that it will be to my full
advantage when I start my career.

In our family, the parents is the head of the house. All decisions have to be "approved" by them. They deserve the most respect
because of how hard they work. My dad is the one who typically
wakes up everyday to go work and provide for them family while
my mom stays home and does housework. My mom is free to go
work if she would like to and any money she makes is for her own
personal use while getting money from my father.
