WHAT ARE NON LIVING RESOURCES? Non
living resources are resources that are that
don't have a heart or any other body parts.
Wood is a non living resource. It is used to
build houses, make wooden buckets, or
another example is furniture made of
wood.Water is another non living resource. We
need water to drink and travel across the
ocean.Groundwater is water that has been
underground for as little as a day, or as long as
1 billion years!

Oil is a non living resource. Oil is used
to make vehicles run, make electricity, and even make
plastic! Like earlier, we talked a little about
groundwater. Here are some facts about
groundwater:
* Groundwater is used for growing crops!
* 2 billion of us drink groundwater every day! *
Modern groundwater is groundwater that has been
underground for under 50 years! Wind is a non living
resource. Wind turbines collect wind and give
electricity. WHAT IS GEOTHERMAL ENERGY?
Geothermal Energy is a non living resource that can
harm the environment. In the book, Geothermal

Energy, on page 4, it says, Today, more than
80% of the world's energy comes from non
renewable resources such as fossil fuels. We
use a lot of geothermal energy! But it will harm
nature if we use it too much. Geothermal power
plants give off a lot of pollution because it is
unhealthy to the environment. WHAT IS WIND
POWER? Wind power is when wind is collected
through wind turbines and turns in to
electricity. Wind power from a wind turbine can
power a house.-Even when the power is out!

This island in Denmark, used to use a lot of
fossil fuels like regular car gases back in the
1980's-1990's. But, now, they use
EVERYTHING that is electric. For an example, a
man has a wind turbine for his house.Even
when there is a blizzard! Certain places like
Denmark have a TON of snow and blizzards are
very common. Brisk winds can blow an
umbrella inside out if the wind is strong
enough. Wind blows very swift and violently
over prairies because there are no things to

block it. Uneven surface blocks wind
making the wind change direction
where it is heading.People in airplanes
sometimes feel rough patches of wind
known as "turbulence". Jet streams
flow far over the earth because there
isn't anything to block it. Jet streams
may be 3-10 miles off the ground.

So, I hope you were paying attention about
earths non-living resources. Because this book
has questions about what you've learned. If
you get stuck on a question, you can flip back
where the answer is. So, let's get started! 1.
What are earth's non-living resources? 2.
What is geothermal energy? 3.
How many miles off the ground are jet
streams?
