All Charlie wanted was a furry pal like his classmates.

2
Thomas had a cat, Angie had a bunny, Charlie wanted a pet of his own.

3
Every day Charlie asked his mother for a pet but she always said "no!" Charlie's mom didn't think he was responsible enough to have a pet.

4
He begged and begged, until one day his mother finally decided to grant his wish.

5
Before going to the pet store, Charlie's mom explained to him how important it was to keep a pet. "You have to be responsible Charlie, in order to keep a pet," "Whats being responsible?" Charlie asked.

6
"Being responsible is when you are in control of something or care for something."

7
"Do you think you can handle it?" As Eargerly as ever Charlie shouted "yes!!"

8

All Charlie could think about was what kind of pet he wanted, "Maybe I'll get a Guinea Pig, or maybe i'll get a parrot," Charlie thought.
9
When charlie and his mom arrived at the pet store, a tall man greeted them at the door. "Welcome to Pets R Us, what are you interested in?"

10
"Well this is Charlie's first pet," his mom explained "You should get something small" the man suggested.

11
As the three of them walked passed the different pets, Charlie was amazed by all he was seeing.
12
The last cage Charlie approached, a dog stuck his snout out between the bars of the cage. The little dog fascinated Charlie. "Mom This is the one!!" Charlie yelled eagerly.

13

"Are you sure?" his mother asked, "I've never been so sure in my life," he replied. So they told the store clerk, got a cage, picked up the puppy, and left for home.

14
While sitting in the car Charlie was thinking about what to name his new pet. Then all of a sudden it clicked in his head and he told his mom, the dog's name is going to be Ruffles.

15
"Thats a great name," his mother replied to him while walking into the house.

16
Charlie showed Ruffles around the house then he pointed at an area in the corner. "This is where you'll be sleeping Ruffles," Charlie said. Ruffles replied with a big "woof."

17
The next day as Charlie got ready for school he gave Ruffles a big bowl of water and food.
