2
There once was a king named King Brom.
He ruled over the land of Grantharia for many years.
3

4
There was an evil witch who hated King Brom because everyone loved him so much.
She cast a spell that would turn him into something everyone hates: a mosquito.
5

6
The next morning as King Brom ate his royal cereal, he began to feel very strange.
He screamed as he realized he was getting smaller and smaller. His screams turned to buzzing when the transformation was complete.
King Brom looked around and saw that he was so small he fit inside the crown that once sat on the top of his head.
7

8
The witch entered Brom's dining room and cackled gleefully.
"I poisoned you, you fool! Now, all I need to do is finish the job!" she said and raised her hand to swat Brom.
Brom flew out from inside his crown without thinking. He wasn't very good at flying yet with his brand new wings, but he was able to dodge the witch's swat and fly toward the door.
"No! You won't escape!" the witch skrieked and chased after him.
9

10
Brom flew out of a window and out into the warm spring air. After he was sure he had flown his way out of danger, he spun around and saw the old witch still standing in the window of his castle.
"There is no escape, Brom!" she shouted out the window. "The people may love the king, but EVERYONE hates mosquitoes! Someone will swat you for me!"
11

12
Brom was very frightened. He flew as fast as he could into the forest.
He landed on a tree to rest his wings and think. He knew what the witch had said was correct. People did hate mosquitoes. If anyone saw him, they would surely try to swat him.
Then Brom thought of the other thing that witch had said.
"The people may love the king," she had said.

13

?
14
That made Brom think. Why did the people love him? Yes, he was a strong warrior. Yes, he shared his wealth with the people. Yes, he threw great parties and held exciting tournaments. Brom knew, though, that the thing that made a really good king was wisdom.
Being a mosquito meant he was no longer as strong, he had no money, and he definitely wouldn't be hosting any parties. His transformation had done nothing to his mind, however. All he had to do was calm down and think.
15

16
After a short period of time, Brom had an epiphany.
"Bzzzz zzzz! Zzzzz bzzzz zzz zz!" he buzzed.
If he had been himself, he would have been able to exclaim instead, "The witch! If he had a spell to turn me into this, she might have a spell to turn me back!"
Brom knew the woods of his kingdom well. He flew in the direction of the witch's home.
