Because of their size, Elephants are considered one the biggest mammals in the world.

Mother Elephants carry water in their tusks to feed their young children or to wash their bodies during bath time.

Digging with their tusks helps them to get to food easily without having much of a struggle.

Years ago elephants were used in war to help carry equipment for the soldiers and to fight as well.

If there are more than one female adult  in a group, and they each have a child or children this is called a "joint family."

Elephants can live for a long time.  The typical life-span of Elephants can be from to 60-70 years.

Male elephants tend to befriend other males in other family groups and hang out with them more than their families.

Elephants almost never attack other animals or humans unless they threatened.  They are considered vulnerable because they are always subject to being preyed upon.

As baby elephants get about 3 months of age they began to feed on vegetation instead of their mother's milk.

Some people believe that elephants are vicious and mean creatures, but in reality they are polite and gentle.  But, they can become defensive if provoked.
