It was a sunny day in the woods. Tom, the
Chameleon, was walking in the afternoon sun.
What a marvelous day, he thought to himself.
As he walked farther, he heard a strange
noise. "Oh mom, please! I'll find one! I swear,
I saw it somewhere down there!", a voice said
close by. "Honey, chameleons are very timid,
and they can camouflage. Are you sure
they're out here?", another voice replied. Tom
felt nervous. Who is that?

Tom was curious, he kept walking deeper and
deeper in the woods. But the deeper he went,
the voices became louder. "I think I found
one", said the first voice. What is going on,
thought Tom. But before he could imagine, a
hand came around him and lifted him up.
PLOP! "I got one mom! I got one! I knew I'd
get one!", yelled the first voice. "Great honey,
now let's get back home for supper", the
second voice said. Tom tried to get out of the
jar. He twisted and turned, but it was no use.
He was trapped.

"He is so cool! I'm gonna name him Slimy!",
said the first voice. "Alright Bobby, hurry on
down so we can have supper", said Bobbys
mom. "Okay mom", Bobby replied. When
Bobby left, Tom felt more alone than ever. I
want to go home thought Tom sadly. Soon
Bobby came back. "Sorry Slimy, mom said you
have to stay in the living room until dad
comes", he said as he took Toms jar.
"Goodnight Slimy", yelled Bobby as he ran
back upstairs to his room. Trapped and alone,
Tom closed his eyes and went to sleep.

As Tom awoke the next morning, he felt nervous
and alert. "Morning Slimy!", called Bobby. He
dumped in two crickets in the jar and left. But Tom
wasn't hungry. He wanted to leave this place,
NOW! "Hope you don't keep Slimy in the living
room all day Bobby because Molly is coming over
today", said Bobbys mom from the kitchen. "I'll
take him to my room mom", replied Bobby. He ran
to Toms jar and said, "Great news! Mollys' coming
over! She's gonna love you!" Tom didn't have time
to think before he was moving again.

After a while, the door bell rang. "Hey! Molly
must be here!", said Bobby with excitement.
Tom just didn't care. Bobby went downstairs
and came back with a girl. "Nice lizard Bobby,
does it like to play?", asked Molly as she went
to the jar. "I think, let's go Slimy", said Bobby.
Tom squirmed, but couldn't leave his
grasp."Let's start with alien encounter",said
Bobby. And off they went.
