Once upon a time, there lived a family of five. It consisted of Mamma Sugar, Papa, Fritz, Gerta, and Dominic. They were a lovely family, but they loved sugar! If they were to go without sugar, then they would live in depression forever. However, none of them think that would happen EVER.

2
One fine day, papa had the idea to go to the west side of town so he could try to eat the best candy in all of Berlin.
" you should come with me to the candy store in west berlin!" exclaimed papa.
"No its already to late," replied mama, "you may take Dominic if you want to to keep you company."
" We shall return tomorrow" stated papa. Dominic and papa left for the candy store that night. Little did they know, they would never return.

lets go

Too late

Who knew one night could change so much. I could not believe my eyes when I saw it! There was a ginormous wall between the eastern side of Berlin and the western side of Berlin! Moma and I went to a soldier that looked like a brocoli and ask what was going on. He replied "NO MORE SUGAR FOR YOU."

4

Pretty soon, I figured out what had happened. There was a wall between our side of Berlin and the west side. Unlike us, the western side was allowed to have sugar. Many people are trying to escape the border but if they are caught, they will be killed and turned into more broccoli. I long for some sugar

5
Later that day, I went to school with one of my best friends Anna. I love her so much because she is nice and she used to give me her extra candy. Sadly, we aren't allowed to do that anymore. I still like her anyways.

6
On our way home from school, I glanced across the wall. There I found a familiar face. It was Dominic and Father from the west! I started to wave when another soldier frightened me. He told me that I should never look across the border again. He seemed nice but I was very frightened!

7
When I came home, I received terrible news. Anna's brother attempted to escape and was broccolified . Fritz was with the soldiers! I am very scared of what would happen to me. Momma sugar is going to visit her mother so i will be by myself.
Later that night, Fritz came home and comforted me. He too was frightened.

8
On my way to school, Anna and I were very depressed. She handed me a note that had a picture of a welcome border. She said it was from her brother and it was a message from papa and dominic! It had a picture of the welcome building towards the border. I can not to wait to show fritz!

9
When I got home, I immediately showed Fritz. Even though i thought it was a meaningless drawing, Fritz seemed to know exactly what to do! He wrote down his plan so the Soldiers would not hear it. It said that we needed to shovel a hole underneath the border. We might get to have sugar again
