I woke up to the sound of my aunt yelling my name from the kitchen downstairs. I looked around my room. It had wood floorboards, the paint on the wall was chipping off, I had a small desk in one corner that I never use, my bed was in the other corner, and I had a mirror leaning against the wall near my bed. I stood up and walked over to my mirror. I look at what I was dressed in. To my cousin it was hideous, because it didn’t have lace or sparkles, but I liked my outfit. I had almost forgotten that my aunt was calling me. I rushed downstairs, and since I was in a hurry, I slammed into my uncle.

He looked down on me. He looks more disgusting in the morning than he normally does. He has yellow teeth that reek of fish, he is mostly bald but the few hairs left on his head are gray, and he is the rudest person anyone will ever meet.
“What are you doing? Why are you running around this early in the morning? You ran right into me and almost knocked me over.” His face was turning red as he kept rambling on about how rude I am and how I was so lucky for them to have taken me when my parents died, and how I’m an ungrateful brat.

By the time he stopped talking, I had completely zoned out. When I finally got downstairs I realized why my aunt was calling my name. She was standing by the sink with a part of a broken dish in one hand and another part in her other hand. I knew I needed to clean it up right away, so I hurried to get the broom. I brought it back and started cleaning. While I was cleaning, I heard my cousin Rose.
“Oh my gosh!”
“What’s going on?” I asked.

She shoved the letter in my face so I could read it:
Dear Vivian,
We would like to invite you have dinner with Prince Alex and myself. We will have dinner at seven o’clock Sunday afternoon so please be at the Castle at six thirty sharp. You may bring five guests including yourselves. If you have any questions or concerns please send either myself or my son Prince Alex a letter. I hope you can attend and we will see you Sunday.
Thank You,
King George

I couldn’t believe my eyes! Vivian was invited to have dinner with the King and the Prince. I would have questioned why the prince chose her if I wasn’t so excited. I really want to go with her to the castle, but I doubt she would ever want to invite me. Besides even if she did invite me I wouldn’t have anything to wear.
Rose and I were crowded around Vivian, staring at the letter, then I broke the silence. “Congratulations! Who are you going to bring?”
“Well I know I will have to bring my mother and father, and I guess I will need to invite Rose too. Who else should I bring though?” Before I could speak she said, “I suppose I’ll have to invite you.”
“Thank you so much!” I was smiling so wide that my face started to hurt.

The next morning I woke up as joyful as I have ever been. I walked downstairs to see my aunt waiting for me. She had a straight face which made me slightly confused considering her daughters and niece are going to have dinner with the prince and king in a few days.
“Good morning,” I said cheerfully, but my aunt stayed silent. I could feel the tension between us, and finally she spoke to me.
“Are you going to dinner with Prince Alex and King George?”I was starting to get nervous. I responded politely by saying that Rose invited me and I accepted the invitation.

“Well okay, but you can not wear that,” she was looking at my outfit as she said this.I had nothing else, not a single other outfit in my entire closet. Suddenly Vivian walked, she took once glance at me quickly turned away. She walked over to the counter and sat on a stool. I didn’t have time to even think about her. I needed to get a dress that would make my aunt satisfied enough for me to be allowed to go.
“Hey,” Rose walked in the kitchen and smiled at me and I smiled back at her. She instantly realized something was up and asked if I was okay.

“I don’t have anything to wear to dinner on Sunday.” I admitted to her.
She thought for a minute then told me to follow her upstairs. I followed behind her upstairs until she stopped at her room and opened the door. Her room was much nicer than mine, there was a couch in the left corner and her bed was on the right side. She had a large mirror and desk on the right side of the room too. She had a sewing machine on the left side next to a closet which probably had almost thirty dresses. Rose looked around for a second. She walked over to the sewing machine.
