Once upon a time, there was a girl named Meghan. Meghan was not exactly pretty, at least for what people could see. Meghan had a mom named Maria, a dad named Louis, and a very pretty sister who resembled her mother named Jenna. Jenna was very close to her father Louis growing up.When Meghan was 5 an event changed her whole life. Louis and Meghan got in a car accident and Louis died. For the next 11 years, Jenna did many mean things to Meghan because she thought it was Meghan’s fault their father died. Growing up, Jenna would spread many really mean rumors about Meghan.

Everyone would believe Jenna because they are sisters so people figured she was telling the truth. In fact, the rumors would be the opposite of the truth. Some of the worst rumors Jenna spread were about “Why Meghan was so ugly”.  Jenna told everyone that she was adopted. “ Meghan was only part of their family because no one wanted her and my family ‘felt bad for her”’.  The truth was Meghan was not adopted but Jenna and Meghan looked nothing alike-Jenna was pretty, was well dressed, had many friends and was very well spoken. Megan looked badly dressed, dressed darkly, had very few friends and was quiet.

After Jenna shared this rumor, everyone in the hallways would mock Meghan, talking about how no one wanted her and how ugly she was. When Meghan got any reward, Jenna would “accidentally” destroy it out of anger and jealousy. Jenna felt that only she could get rewards since she “didn’t kill their father”. Meghan would get upset, go hide, cry, and get frustrated because she thought it was unfair.

When Meghan was in eighth grade, she received her report card on the last day of school. When she got home, her mother, Maria, and her opened it up. The report card revealed she had all A’s for the whole year. Meghan and Maria were so excited.

 Meghan’s mom knew that Jenna was jealous and destroyed Meghan’s things. One thing, Maria did not know was why Jenna was being so mean to Meghan. Maria tried so many times to get Jenna to stop but Jenna would not stop, Maria punished Jenna many times, but Jenna did not cared she just wanted to make Meghan’s life miserable. So Maria promised to herself that she would always be loyal and supportive of Meghan. Maria told Meghan, “I love how beautiful you are on the inside, and maybe someday Jenna will see truly how beautiful you are.”

Jenna got angrier and angrier every time she got punished and Meghan did not. Maria made sure to warn Meghan, “Make sure your sister does not find out about this bracelet, or else it might get destroyed”. Meghan thanked her mom, smiled, and hugged her. So Meghan wore the bracelet and she tried to never take it off. Meghan loved the bracelet. The bracelet was gold and it had her name engraved in it.

Jenna noticed the beautiful bracelet and she got jealous and suspicious. Jenna decided she needed to destroy the bracelet. Months past and Meghan wore the bracelet everyday, until one night she forgot what her mother told her and she took it off. Jenna saw the bracelet and stole it while Meghan was sleeping. Next, Jenna when to the garage, and she took a big hammer, smashing the bracelet into tiny pieces. Jenna put the pieces into the bottom of the trash can, so that Meghan wouldn’t find it. Then Jenna went back to bed, and pretended nothing had happened.

Meghan told her the story of how she forgot to leave the bracelet on, and that it was gone. Maria felt very bad for Meghan. Maria talked to Jenna about it, but Jenna acted like she was clueless.Meghan was so upset because it was the only thing she really had left of her dad. She looked everywhere, but could not find it. Meghan spent the rest of the day crying because she was so devastated. She finally felt like she had a piece of him, but it was taken away. The rest of the year was very miserable for Meghan.

One day, when Meghan was 16 years old, she was in her room after school. Meghan was just doing her homework when she heard a buzzing noise. Meghan looked at her phone and it was from James. James was really popular, nice, and Meghan had a crush on him. The text message read, “All of the Juniors and seniors are invited to my party on Friday, January 22 at 6:30pm at my mansion.

Meghan went across the hall to her mother’s room to go and tell her about James’ party at his mansion. Her mother said “ I may have to work, so ask me again on Wednesday.” While Maria and Meghan were talking, Jenna overheard Meghan and Maria, and she really wanted to go to the party.

Since, her whole family was invited Jenna started spreading rumors about what Meghan was going to wear. Jenna told all of her friends “Oh my gosh Meghan and I are going to James’ party. Meghan picked out the ugliest dress ever.  Although it really goes with her because you know, one ugly thing plus another ugly thing make an even uglier thing. Hahaha Meghan is going to look like a piece of trash, as if she didn’t already look like trash.”

Meghan got laughed at and picked on even more than usual. Everyone kept asking to see a picture of Meghan’s dress.  Meghan was confused since she had not picked out a dress yet. She tried telling them, but they would call her a liar. For days, Meghan would go home crying because no one would talk to her, except to say how ugly she was. Meghan had 2 friends: Anne, who got the flu and Jamie, who got the flu from Anne, plus her mom had to work. So, she had no one to help her and she felt so sad and so alone.

Finally it was Wednesday, her friends came back to school and the bullying died down. That night Meghan asked her mom if they could go to James’ house and her mother said “Yes Meghan we can go. I am not scheduled to work Friday night.” Meghan got so excited and right away she went to her closet to pick out the best party dress she had.

Jenna on the other hand went to the mall. Jenna picked out a black skin tight dress with a cutout in the back. Jenna paired the dress with black pumps that she found at a small shop in the mall. She found the perfect bag in her closet; it was a white clutch that looked like a flower. The week flew by and it was time to get ready for the party. Maria, Meghan and Jenna got dressed, Meghan was done first and waited by the door, excited about the party and how good she looked. Maria was upstairs, putting on the final touches. When Jenna came down and saw how pretty Meghan looked, she thought,” Meghan looks much prettier than me, so why don’t I help her?”.  

When everyone went to the car, Jenna pushed Meghan down. Meghan looked down and her dress was torn, muddy, and bloody. Meghan had blood running down her hands and knees. Meghan’s shoes were also covered in mud, along with her clutch.

 Meghan was so upset that she started crying and her mascara started to run all down her face. Maria saw what happened and banned Jenna from going to the party. Maria helped Meghan inside the house to clean her up. They both knew Meghan could not go to the party looking like this.  Maria had bought Meghan her birthday present, even though her birthday is not for another 2 months.

Inside was a baby pink designer dress. Also, inside the gift box was a pair of light pink custom shoes and a light pink handbag, The shoes and handbag perfectly matched her dress. Meghan also received a new bracelet, which was 14k gold. After that, Maria helped Meghan do her makeup to make it look even better than before. Finally, Meghan was ready to go to the party, and she looked better than before. It was 6:30pm when Maria and Meghan were leaving but they knew that being early was never “cool” anyway.
